Nothing Original.
Review of Ashes Fever DVD by
awesomejim
Advantages: Shows a previously unseen angle of tlast summers ashes victory.
Disadvantages: Uses the same footage which was overused during the summer.
Sadly the much hyped ashes fever DVD does not live up to the fantastic summer of cricket that was provided. It just lacks any originality and appears to have been rushed in production, quite francly the 100 minutes is rather boring. Unfortunately the producers and editors have failed to use any new footage from what we have already seen in the summer. Sadly some of the clips and highlights provided are incorrect and shown out of sequence (on occasions ...

Much as I prefer 'Fred' to 'Freddie'...
Review of Freddie - The Official Andrew Flintoff DVD DVD by
Clio233
Advantages: Yet another bit of cricket memorabilia to add to your collection...
Disadvantages: Some content repeated
...this is a pretty good DVD. I admit to being somewhat of a completist as far as cricket is concerned. It's one of my overwhelming obsessions and this filled a gap while I was waiting for the damaged Ashes boxset I got from Amazon to be replaced.
The menu screen is very nicely designed to look like a dressing room, with a small television screen showing some of Fred's finer moments on a loop to keep you company while you're choosing which bit to ... ...by Simon Hughes, the same interview edited and cut with footage from the Ashes and some archive stuff, or scene selection of the latter.
The main feature opens with Simon Hughes, and if you can't stand him at all you're going to have a little trouble with this DVD as he narrates the whole thing and obviously conducts the main interview. I personally don't have a problem with him and generally there's enough going on to detract from his presence ...

A should have for all cricket fans
Review of Phil Tufnell - Tuffers' Duffers DVD by
pmorris17
Advantages: Funny
Disadvantages: Not very long
...this dvd, basically it is Phil Tufnell sat down for about an hour with an audience around him talking about all the sledging on the cricket pitch that happened to him and all the stuff of the pitch during his playing days.
If you are a cricket fan then i would recommend this dvd as it gives you an insight into some of the events that happen in cricket but which you dont really hear about. I cryed with laughter the first time i saw this as the jokes ...

A Whirlwind Tour ---
Review of The Story Of Cricket DVD by
whitehall1
Advantages: Interesting introduction to the sport
Disadvantages: Slightly too slow in pace, it felt a little too long. Now outdated.
...enough. In light of the recent 2005 Ashes win by England though it is outdated. However if you want a quick history lesson and an explanation of the great and the good in the sport this is a good place to start.
You are shown the various stages of the sport from its beginnings in the 18th C to the famous series in modern times.
I'm a convert to this game --- and after watching this DVD I understood a bit more about the political nature of the game ... ...a cricket lover already as there are some very interesting archive footage here.
Do not buy this DVD to understand the rules of the game as it assumes much prior knowledge. To understand the game, go buy a book and watch a match at a local ground instead! ...
