Review of Star Trek - First Contact DVD by
chris86
Advantages: the borg, earth
Disadvantages: the woman who thinks the borg sound swedish??????
if you are a star trek fan, even a new one or a slight fan, this is the DVD for you because after watching this DVD you will be a hardened fan of the star trek series. this movie has one of the best enemies ever created in any tv series EVER!!!!! THE BORG!!!!!!!!!!! because of this fact alone, it is enough reason to buy this dvd. the borg transport one of their ships and the enterprise back to the 22nd century. when the enterprise destroys their ... ...one of the best ever star trek movies if not the best and well worth any amount of money. also on a fina note, jerry goldsmiths soundtrack to this movie is without a shadow of a doubt the best that has ever been written for a sci fi movie (including Star Wars) if not the best ever written. ...

First Contact
Review of Star Trek - First Contact DVD by
phurren2006
Advantages: The 'Next Generation' crew get a film to themselves
Disadvantages: None
STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT is the 8th in the 'Star Trek' movie series, and the 2nd to feature the 'Next Generation' crew, led by Captain Picard. The storyline has the crew having to travel back in time from the 24th to the 21st century in order to stop the Borg from assimilating the Earth and changing the future from the course it should be on.
This is a much more exciting film than the previous instalment, 'Generations'. Each member of the crew has ... ...like 'The Picard/Kirk Show'. The storyline is more exciting - I've always had a soft spot for the Borg ever since their first appearance in the TV episode 'The Best Of Both Worlds', and the Borg and their Queen (played by Alice Krige) provide a much more formidable foe than Malcilm McDowell's Soren in the previous film. It also has to be said that much as I love the crew of the original Enterprise, Kirk's appearance in the previous film undermined ...

Two Captians Unite
Review of Star Trek - Generations DVD by
sewbizzie
Advantages: Great to see Kirk and Picard together
Disadvantages: Another Enterprise for the scrap heap
I was recommend this film to watch by another user of this site and a massive Thank You to them. It is a brilliant film
The beginning sees the old crew of the Enterprise, Kirk (William Shatner), Scottie (James Doohan) and Chekov (Walter Koenig) all aboard a new Enterprise as guests of honor for its maiden voyage. The Enterprise is taken into a difficult situation and we see Kirk being taken off into space.
The film then begin 70 years after this ... ...being dead, is he really? Picard is now the Captain aboard the Enterprise who takes the ship and crew off to help an Aurian physicist, unbeknown to the Captain he physicist named Soran has an evil plan to destroy the enterprise and blow up a plant to enable himself to be taken up into the nexus (I would describe the nexus as a ribbon or worm like formation that travels around the universe and once inside you can take yourself off to any place or ...

Generations
Review of Star Trek - Generations DVD by
phurren2006
Advantages: Kirk returns
Disadvantages: Spock and McCoy don't return
...the sixth film in the Star Trek series being the last shout for the original Enterprise crew ('The Undiscovered Country'), Paramount Pictures decided to go in a different direction for the seventh film, STAR TREK: GENERATIONS. The TV show STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION had been highly successful with both audiences and critics, but had recently come to the end of its 7-year run, and it was decided that it was time to transfer this success to the ... ...deadly plan to destroy entire star systems in order to secure his place in 'the nexus', where he can live an immortal, fulfilled life. It is of course up to Picard and Kirk, who has survived into Picard's time through a fluky plot device, to stop Soren. This they manage to do, but the film does end with a tragedy, which I won't spoil here.
The film is enjoyable, although it does feel very much like the 'transition' movie that it is. It hands over ...
