Review of Star Wars - Episode 4 - A New Hope (Limited Edition) by clownfoot

Advantages: It's Star Wars!
Disadvantages: You're having a giraffe, right?

STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE 5 Stars - Genius! End of review. What? You need more? But what else is there to say about the starting point of George Lucas' behemoth franchise that hasn't already been said? Countless polls have already established that Darth Vader is the biggest bad arse ever to set foot on celluloid; the Star Destroyer thundering into view over Tattoine is one of cinema's greatest opening sequences; the Millennium Falcon is the coolest ...
...typewriters have already said about Star Wars during the last thirty years. From Leia's bagel shaped ear-muffs, to Han shooting Greedo first, to the comedy stormtrooper who fails to duck under the blast door; in all seriousness, do you really want to hear all that gubbins again? You do! Bunch of mindless gibbons… A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, (Originality raises a lightsaber to its heart and proves it's no match for a blaster at the ... Read review

star wars ep. 3
Review of Star Wars - Episode 3 - Revenge Of The Sith DVD by TheGooner123

Advantages: na
Disadvantages: na

...as i love all the star wars films. The old ones are alot better than the newer ones I think, but this one is still a good film. I like how they gradually tell the story over the three new ones about how they fall in love and how darth vadar is created. I found it very sad when padme had the twins and named them. after all they went through to be together. i wished it could of been a happier ending than it was. obviously i dont want to give away ...
...sets of films around, the special effects alone are amazing, putting some other films to shame i think. I think they should do another one, carrying on after number 6. Just an idea which i doubt they will to be honest. Definitly a film to watch before you die (well the whole set) ... Read review

Orwellian nightmare of the shaven clones
Review of THX 1138 (Director's Cut) by ozzape

Advantages: Good bonus material on the DVD
Disadvantages: Storyline of the film needs patience to follow it fully.

...experience you get from the THX 1138 Directors Cut DVD is certainly a good insight to the mind-set and creativity of George Lucas. This futuristic film is one of the "must have" films around - even if you watch it just once. The film itself is set in a stark, white-washed, micro-managed land - where everything done is watched and scrutinised: what is watched on the entertainment system; what medicine you use and how much; who you make love to - ...
...routines, with the lead character, THX 1138 - yes, they have an insignia as their name - shown as working as a handler of radioactive materials, carefully monitored by Big Brother-esq controllers. Within the environment these people inhabit, there are numerous "confessional" booths, which are automated - obviously showing that someone has the great idea of caring for people - but not too much. The "prison" where THX end's up can only really be ... Read review

Star Wars
Review of Star Wars - The Original Trilogy (Box Set) by ZoeKRx

Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: None

...a long time." (Alec Guinness, Star Wars Episode IV) The early Star Wars movies should be seen and owned by all because they are a landmark in cinematic history and this digitally mastered boxset is indeed a great way to own them. The arrangement is elegant and to meet the genre of sci-fi slightly futuristic with the 3D texture and black and silver colours. The main characters including one of my favourite actors - Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and the ...
...those who are new to Star Wars and would like to know the plot of each of the movies previously try the fantastic IMDB and the other fantastic reviews. I have no objection to these digitally mastered versions and can only thank Lucas for the superbly updated special effects and little suprises that are great to look out for. However, I respect that some audiences would prefer the original, unaltered versions that are also now available on DVD. The ... Read review
