About 2 years ago Kanye West released College Dropout a multi platinum selling album and suddenly all the music producers in the world were wondering how this Chicago born rapper had gone undiscovered. However along with Pharrel and some other big names Kanye managed to produce a very good album. Then again in 2005 he did it again with Late Registration. But this time he had a much bigger fan following and his album did even better than the predecessor. ...
...'Bring me down' in which kanye talk about what it's like to be a nobody in this cruel world we live in. Finally in 'All Falls Down' Kanye shares the stage with the fabulous Syleena Johnson. In that song they talk abou what it's like when you're at the top of your game and suddenly the world comes crashing down. With Syleena singing 'We raise it up but it all falls down'. ...the start, I'm a massive Stereophonics fan. Seen them 7 times live, got all the albums and DVDs etc...you get the gist? I'll try and review this DVD as impartially as possible though. And to be honest it's not that hard to be impartial, because it's just not quite as good or as long as it should be. ...People who've bought older Stereophonics documentary DVDs in the past will notice that this one is straight to the point without much of the humour which was enjoyed in previous DVDs. Whether or not this is a good thing is personal choice of course, but personally I found it was missed. Onto the gig footage. This is not a full gig from the LSVO tour. ...as a big fan of Gwen Stefani, I thought I would treat myself with DVD before seeing her soon. The front cover is the picture from the "Love Angel Music Baby" album cover, sitting on a throne and holding a crown in one hand. The picture is in black and white. The disc itself is black with patterns on it, the pattern is faded and can see it in certain light. I think this is quite unique, and not really seen on other dvds. ...shows a fantastic display from Peter Gabriel's 'Growing Up' tour. A very strong setlist and a great stage setup makes this a fantastic concert. The stage itself is circular, surrounded on all sides by the audience, which gives it quite an enclosed feel. It also rotates, which is used for many interesting purposes! Gabriel explains that with the 'Growing Up' tour, he wanted to have a 'vertical' theme for the stage, with things physically moving up ...
...charisma - but hey, it's Peter Gabriel, would you have expected anything less? The set opens with the piano version of 'Here Comes The Flood' and closes with 'Father, Son' - both feature just Gabriel giving a moving performance on the piano - a nice 'symmetrical' overall feel to the show.
