Big Boss - Bruce's Lee's spotlight
Review of The Big Boss (Platinum Edition) by
fightgear
Advantages: Bruce Lee, gory but funny fight scenes, some interesting extras, remastered picture and sound
Disadvantages: You can tell that Lee didn't direct this.
...role after his success in the American market with support roles in Green Hornet, Ironside and Long Street. Although this is my least favourite Lee film, it is still a worthwhile investment.
In this film, Lee plays the character Cheng, a country bumpkin type who leaves China to earn a living in Thailand. He is looked after by his uncle and accepted in to their family. A central aspect of this film is that Lee is forbidden from fighting as a result ... ...until about 30 minutes into the film. Of course being an early 1970's film, this one is full of the usual cliches; over acting, shaky sets, bad soundtracks and dodgy editing cuts BUT it does allow Lee to demonstrate that he did intend to be an actor rather than just a kick and punch jockey.
Lee's family are workers at an ice factory which is actually a front for a drug smuggling business. Workers are treated badly by the gangsters running the factory ...

Enter The Dragon (review)
Review of Enter The Dragon (Special Edition) by
T-BuLL16
Advantages: great storyline and actors, the fighting scenes are EXELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disadvantages: It was a bit slow to start.
...in my all time favourite Enter The Dragon.
I love this film and the reason being is because the storyline is great and the fighting scenes are excellent, well . . . I suppose you would expect that from the man proven to be the worlds fittest man, highly trained in martial arts.
If you are into martial arts then this is definitely the film for you I personally recommend the special edition specifically because it has hidden scenes in it that you ... ...first five or ten minutes as it's a bit slow.
BRUCE LEE, Martial artist, Died age 32, approximately 2 weeks before the film Enter The Dragon was released, Unknown Reasons.
Some People talk about the way he died, I personally like to talk about the way he lived. ...

Fist of Fury or Revenge in a Rickshaw
Review of Fist Of Fury (Platinum Edition) by
fightgear
Advantages: Bruce Lee, silly little aspects, fight scenes, Bobby Baker, first ever nunchaku use on film
Disadvantages: nothing really except the direction.... very static
This film is a fictional story based on a real event. A famous Chinese kung fu fighter was poisoned by the Japanese in turn of the century China. This much is true (as shown in the later film 'Legend').
Bruce Lee plays his top student who has moved away to another part of China. When he hears of his instructors death he races to be at the funeral disbelieving his death.
Bruce's character then seeks to find his master's killers and revenge his death. ... ...His acting is never going to win an Oscar but bear in mind that this was made for the Chinese audiences not Western ones. The culture gap and acting expectations differ beyond what we consider good but one thing communicates itself wonderfully regardless of whether it is seen in the West, in Asia, in the Middle East or in any part of this world, his fighting ability.
Lee uses this film to fully showcase his scope of fighting and much of the fight ...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Review of The Big Boss (Subtitled and Dubbed) (Wide Screen) by
bluewill
Advantages: Great Fight Scenes
Disadvantages: None, Bruce Lee Rocks
Bruce Lee, The Man is a legend when it comes to Martial Arts films. This was the first film Bruce was to do with Golden Harvest Films and although the later films are much better it is still a well worth watching film. Now before I start of course the original is not going to be in English although the DVD will give you the option of putting on the Dubs. I think to really appreciate the film then you need to watch it as the Director intended. And ... ...all about the fighting and nobody does it better than Bruce Lee. So the film itself has a vague plot about drugs and cheap labour and even though it does drag sometimes, the action more than makes up for it. I remember the first time I saw this film as a boy, I was instantly hooked on martial arts and wanted to be just like Bruce. It's worth pointing out that there is a love story (as with all Bruce Lee films) in the background but enough of that ...

A disgrace to the memory of a legend
Review of Bruce Lee - The Man - The Myth DVD by
mimicmwb
Advantages: the story gave a brief insight into Lee's life
Disadvantages: poor acting, poor effects, poor music
...the film didn't actually star Bruce Lee. It was an attempt at portraying his life up until his untimely death.
The actor playing Lee was obviously a well trained martial artist but he didn't act very well at all; to be honest I felt a little embarrassed to be watching it.
THE STORY
This biography of famed martial arts actor Bruce Lee begins as Lee is leaving Hong Kong for America, to fulfill his mother's wishes. The story follows him to San Francisco, ... ...shows some of the conflicts Bruce Lee actually faced in his life, such as racism. There are some electric fight scenes and some actual footage from Bruce Lee films (The Big Boss for instance).
"Did I enjoy it?" --- I did enjoy the fighting but the acting skills were rubbish and so, on the whole, I didn't enjoy the film
The story was good, the director really choose the most influencial periods in Bruce Lee's life to portray into film.
I didn't ...
