Fun shop of murdering
Review of The Little Shop Of Horrors DVD by
jaisonix
Advantages: Worth Seeing, Cheap, Really Fun
Disadvantages: For specific audiences only, cover makes different picture from the film
...comedy is still on sale, the comedy itself is far away more developed that it's year of release, although this movie can only attract just two types of audiences: 1: Crazy comedies' fans or 2: Fans which seen this comedy of it's year of release. Firstly, this film is not the one which calls itself a comedy and makes you sleep at the lunch time, "Little Shop of Horrors" really makes you laugh, doesn't matter who or how old are you, you always going ... ...more victims to feed it, the story tells a real- life situations as in 1960's funniest form available, when the person gets a lot, he always wants more...
Actors are trying to perform at their best, especially i seen the great performance on the main characters (starring Jonathan Haze and Jack Nicholson), although their emotions are certainly unreal and film has made some clear errors. Audio and voice quality are great as for old-age black and white ...

a great family film
Review of The Little Shop Of Horrors DVD by
blasphemous_girl
Advantages: funny and a must-see
Disadvantages: may not be suitable for younger children
...and although I do enjoy the Rick Moranis remake, I do adore this version. Steve Martin is brilliant in the newer one, but Jack Nicholson rivals him for comedy performance in the original. Behind the comedic plot of a giant-talking-man-eating plant that needs more meat as it grows bigger and bigger, the story is rather sad, as poor Seymour tries his best to satisy Audrey ll (the plant) and the girl of his dreams Audrey. A few laughs are definate with ...

Buy it if your a die hard phiefer fan
Review of Wolf (Wide Screen) by
angie1979
Advantages: Seeing Michelle Phiefer at her best
Disadvantages: Seeinh Jack Nicholson not at his best
Ok, first things first, this IS a decent film.
I am not going to bore you with the plot as other reviews do this. What I will say is that the two leading characters have mesmerising chemistry, and you will enjoy it if you are fans of them both. If you don't particulary rate them the I would advise against buying this as there are planty more films to see the two leading roles shine in.
The reason why I enjoyed this film so much was because it includes ...

Projectile Green Vomit And And Daddy's Axe!
Review of Gruesome Twosome - The Exorcist/The Shining DVD by
bigush
Advantages: two classic horrors in one box
Disadvantages: no extras, if you care!
The first thing I thought when I saw this compilation was; 'What an arbitrary coupling of films!'. However, on reflection, maybe it is quite apt in some ways. They are certainly both iconic horror films. They both have reputations for scaring the socks off cinema audiences at the time they were made. They both have casts that include some of the best cinema actors to be found and were both somewhat groundbreaking in their direction and cinematic ... ...possession. Having said that, they tap very different sources of horror in us, sources that have almost been tapped dry since. In the case of 'The Exorcist' it is the shock and awe of demonic evil. With 'The Shining' it is the familiar becoming the dangerous.
The Exorcist (1973)
***********
Directed by William Friedkin, this is the story of the demonic possession of a little girl (Linda Blair) who is the daughter of an actress (Ellen Burstyn). ...

Movies are like people, some shine and some don't.
Review of The Shining DVD by
opheliadagger
Advantages: A simply great piece of film history.
Disadvantages: Some may find it lacking in cheap scares.
The Shining epitomises all that is Kubrick. As an adaptation of the Stephen King novel it was bound to disappoint some of the hardcore fans - the biggest alteration is the ending, which I shall not divulge, but offers up a much more psychologically chilling conclusion than the novel. Over all, however, the film is a veritable masterwork. We are introduced to the Torrence family, who take up residence in an empty hotel over a particually harsh winter ... ...of the hotel's sinister past via a series of cues. Which slowly build throughout the film, leading to an edge-of-your-seat final sequence. Kubricks aptitude for tension building presents itself full throttle in this movie. As we are lead throughout the weeks, seeing glimpses of the breakdown of the family unit, the mental instability of Jack, and the increasing ghostly experiences it would almost be a sigh of relief when the film finishes, if it ...
