Frankensteins Man or Monster ?
Review of Frankenstein DVD by dreamscancometrue

Advantages: classic movie
Disadvantages: a bit dated for the younger generation

...Clive as the Mad/Genius Doctor Frankenstein and Dwight Frye has is slightly retarded and deranged hunchbacked assistant. Obsessed with the possibility of producing life from dead body parts, Frankenstein pushes the boundaries of science to the max. Eventually after obtaining parts from the local morgue they have a male the body prepared, (Should of gone to the body shop). all they need now is a brain. Frankenstein's obsession at playing God, makes ...
...But is it the life Frankenstein wanted? Has he created the ultimate Man or Monster? A very dated movie now, but one I think the older generation would still enjoy, even if just for remembering past movies, My teenagers found it quite boring and certainly not frightening in the least, in fact if it wasn't so boring said one, it would be comical. I quite preferred some of the later versions, with the flute playing Egore with his crooked broken neck. ... Read review

The Terror is terrible
Review of The Terror DVD by Phelthew

Advantages: I got for 99p (wait you want advantages)
Disadvantages: I wasted over an hour of my life. Well i laughed

...guy who has taken on the body and mind of teh duke. In my mind that pretty much makes him the duke. What else is left. There's nothing horrifying about despite the name. Ha God it's crap. I bought it for 99p and it's not worth any more than that. It's just so unbelievably stupid. This mightn't be the most articulate review ever but if you see this film you'll understand. It's also full of historical inaccuracies to name a few 1) Jack plays a napoleonic ...
...and he ends up beside the sea. 2) This Napolenic soldier dspite being really bad at orientation does eem to be quite clever as he has invented the revolver and given it to the onset of the 19th century 3) The Baron/duke who is apparently austrian but could be Italian if the geography worked out abit better prefers to adorn his castle in French and English standards rather than those of his own nation. But the greatest shock is Francis Ford Coppolla ... Read review

2 out of 3 ain't bad
Review of 3 Classic Horrors Of The Silver Screen - Vol. 2 - A Bucket Of Blood / House On Haunted Hill / The Ghoul DVD by alvila

Advantages: A Bucket of Blood and House on Haunted Hill
Disadvantages: The Ghoul

A Bucket of Blood is one of my favourite classics. An enjoyable 'Wax Museum' genre that takes a slightly different approach. This time, the artist is actually very slow witted and has no talent, as you will see. He works at a coffee shop full of poets and art buffs and wants so desperately to join their world. So, one thing leads to another, and, if your familiar with the genre, you know how it goes. House on Haunted Hill is one of the great classics ...
...horror or is it murder-mystery. To answer that question, i would have to spoil it. So, watch and find out for yourself, you won't be dissappointed. Unfortunately, The Ghoul is probably one of Karloff's worst. Karloff is one of my favourites, but he doesn't really act in this one. The story is very slow, and doesn't build up to anything all that shocking. Just some ancient Egyptian Mummy curse, some rich guy trying to be immortal. Nothing I haven't ... Read review

Diary of Boredom
Review of Diary Of The Dead DVD by Phelthew

Advantages: It had it's slightly funny moments.
Disadvantages: Bad acting, slow, not enough zombies.

George A. Romero is the creator of Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead two of the greatest zombie films of all time. Diary of the Dead is his fifth installment in the 'Dead' series and some 40 years on from that first great movie I think it is about time Romero packed it in. Diary of the Dead starts off reasonably enough. A news team are covering a brutal murder in some American city. The bodies are being wheeled into the ambulance ...
...dead, you'd think. But they are. They start to bite the ambulance crew and walk slowly around towards the news team and police. Well the American police aren't going to take any of this crap, after quickly referring to standard police protocol they find out that when people who shouldn't be dead turn out not to be dead the first thing they should do is shoot, as they do. (They didn't even know they were zombies, it made no sense.) Then the film ... Read review

It's All In The Eyes
Review of Mansion Of The Doomed DVD by sghawken

Advantages: Chilling view of an American hero
Disadvantages: Very bad transfer to DVD

...the UK as Massacre Mansion, Mansion Of The Doomed is one of those commonly available movies that nobody seems to have seen. When VIPCO revived sales in the early 1990's one of the first releases was Massacre Mansion which had the delightful image of a hand clutching eyes on the front cover. This release by low budget movie company Digital Entertainment Ltd, is a sad effort, featuring absolutely no preservation or special features. The imagery has ...
...big issues to contend with Mansion Of The Doomed is a pretty good horror offering with credible performances from both Basehart and Graham in leading roles. Made on a shoestring budget, a fact that is fairly evident from the first few minutes of viewing; I guess this could also be the reason why the movies quality has deteriorated so badly. While nothing wobbles or is taped together there are a limited number of filming locations featured in the ... Read review
