Review of There Will Be Blood DVD by
l-m-n-o-p
Advantages: Fantastic performances, characters, soundtrack, photography...
Disadvantages: Story meanders a lot; at 158 minutes long, it will bore many
...is what, for me, makes There Will Be Blood so great. Whilst the finale is certainly unexpected, not entirely convincing and defies most of the rules of modern cinema, I loved it. As the grotesque Plainview bellowed "I'm finished!", everyone in the audience simultaneously held their breath in a shocked silence.
There Will Be Blood is one of the most ambitious, beautiful and unpredictable films of the new millennium. It's also incredibly divisive. ... ...is generally the case) or you will find it hammy. The shrieking, atonal score will haunt or annoy you. As for the ending, well, it either will blow your mind and go down as one of the best climaxes in the history of cinema, or leave you shaking your head in disbelief that the director could do something so ridiculous after the excellent preceding two hours of the film. Either way, you have to admire Anderson's audacity. ...

It all started with a chair
Review of Juno DVD by
DixieChick10
Advantages: Great storyline, cast & sountrack.
Disadvantages: Nothing really
What is Juno?
Juno is a 2007 American comedy/drama film directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. It stars Ellen Page as the title character, as she is confronted by an unplanted pregnancy and the events that follow when you are a 16 year old pregnant girl. Awards
I do have this rather lame theory that all films that either win or are nominated for Oscars are usually terrible. Crash and Brokeback Mountain to name a few. ... ...Plot
16 year old Juno MacGraff (Page) discovers she is pregnant by her long time friend Paulie Bleeker. At first she wants to have an abortion but realises she can't go through with it, so decides to give the baby up for adoption.
With the help of her friend she finds the perfect couple to adopt her child. She finds Mark and Venessa Loring in the local magazine and thinks they are the perfect couple to adopt her child. However the couple's ...

A Little Insight Into A Teenage World
Review of Juno DVD by
scotlandizdabest
Advantages: Brilliant Cast, Script, Soundtrack, Quality and extras
Disadvantages: May not be to eveyones taste
...Blu-Ray)
What Is It?
Juno is the hit Indie film winning an Oscar, a BAFTA, A Golden Globe, a MTV Movie award and many more. One of the first films of this genre, it became a worldwide favourite film. After buying a Blu-Ray reader at the start of the year, it seemed right to spend extra on getting a higher quality Blu-Ray disc. Blu-Ray vs DVD
I bought a Blu-Ray Player after getting a HD TV. There is quite a difference between the two. ... ...Page plays the main character Juno which she fits in fantastically. I had never heard of her before seeing Juno but after this film I can see her doing huge movies in her career. She has become a personnel favourite actress as she plays Juno so brilliantly in the film.
Michael Cera (Superbad) plays Paulie Bleeker, the babies dad in the film. I had seen Superbad and really liked him in it, but again this is were we see his best performance. He plays ...

The inspirational story of Christy Brown
Review of My Left Foot DVD by
sunmeilan
Advantages: Superb performances from Daniel Day-Lewis and Brenda Fricker
Disadvantages: Sometimes a bit slow, ending a bit too polished
...film with a smile on my face, and only a small part with tears in my eyes. It is based on a true story (in fact, it is based on Christy Brown's own memoirs) and, like anyone's life story, there are times when it is a little dull, but these moments are really very few and far between, mainly documenting his struggle with alcohol and his frustrations at the lack of a love life. Ultimately though, this is the story of Christy's success, against all ... ...before his death in 1981 and not just because he had cerebral palsy.
The story is told via a series of flash-backs as a newcomer arrives in Christy Brown's life. As she reads the story of his life (which Christy Brown wrote - or at least dictated - himself), key points in Christy's life are shown to the audience. This is quite an effective way of telling the story because I was intrigued about the newcomer and what role she was going to play in ...

SATC from a male point of view
Review of Sex And The City - The Movie DVD by
mynameisrui
Advantages: Easy to watch
Disadvantages: Basically an extended episode
...I'd write a review on Sex And The City from a males point of view. Before any comments are made I was dragged along with my girlfriend and had no choice in the matter! She is a massive fan of Sex And The City and over the years I've been subjected to my fair share of it so while I know the characters and some of the background, there is plenty that I don't know.
From what I can gather, the Sex And The City movie is set a few years after the last ... ...of as "that one off Sex And The City."
There is no doubt this film is purely aimed at women! I went on the opening night and the cinema was at least 90% women. This, obviously, meant that there was a ridiculous amount of "oooohhh's" and "aaahhh's" which got quite frustrating at times. I'm a person who wishes people would just shut up in the cinema!
So, as a bloke what did I think? It was ok. There is no way I'd go watch it again even though my ...
