I want my cigarettes too Ratchet you cow!
Review of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest DVD by
Judgee
Advantages: Great entertainment
Disadvantages: not for fast action fans particularly
...forever perfect. This is just one of a handful of movies out of thousands that I could happily watch twenty four hours a day, every day, for the rest of my life! What makes it so good? Read on if you want to know more….
The Story….
Randle P. McMurphy [played by Jack Nicholson] is a loud-mouthed fast talking convict. He has learnt that he can shorten his sentence and spend his remaining time in a nice cosy mental hospital, if he can convince the ... ...characters relationship with Randle is one that really stands out, as does his overall performance, only being overshadowed by perhaps Nicholson himself!
Louise Fletcher is cold and annoying as "Nurse Ratched" the woman just oozes irritation. The kind of character you would like to see hit over the head with a fridge. It's not surprising the inmates refer to her as nurse "Ratchet". You need an evil Ratched to balance out the nicer characters and ...

The Piano
Review of The Piano DVD by
silvajade
Advantages: A great film to watch, a very emotional film which is gripping to watch..
Disadvantages: none
The film, The Piano, is a film that tells a story about a young woman’s journey from oppression to freedom. The main character, Ada McGrath (Holly Hunter), is sold off in marriage to marry Alisdair Stewart (Sam Neil) and is thus sent away from her home to New Zealand. The piano is rescued by ...

a good film, with good acting
Review of In Her Shoes DVD by
nicnncha
Advantages: good story, good acting, believable
Disadvantages: dragged at the start
I went to see this in the cinema when it came out, and it i have to say i wasnt too sure i liked it when i came out of the cinema. It was quite a serious type of comedy, which i wasnt expecting. I rewatched it last night though, and have to say i prefered it second time round. It was about 2 sisters who are completely different, one is played by toni collette and shes sensible and hasnt alot of confidence in herself, shes not very successful with ... ...her ruin her sisters life in the beginning of the movie. She doesnt have alot of thought for others, especially her poor sister who does everything for her. After months apart, Cameron Diaz's character maggie, takes stock of her life and then goes on to sort herself out, and she becomes a much nicer indidivual. You see her become more sensible and alot more caring and her transformation is great and i really did like the new maggie. You acting is ...

danmclovin
Advantages: Beautiful, Heartwarming!
Disadvantages: None!
Released in 1988, Empire of the Sun is a brilliant epic movie set during the second world war. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the movie introduced a very young Christian Bale to the silver screen, who we all know by now has gone on to become a household name.
The movie is set around the Japanese invasion of China, during the second world war. Jamie Graham (Christian Bale), a precocious and priviledged young boy, and his parents are forced to flee ... ...to the invasion. Amid the mayhem of the escape, Jamie is separated from his parents, and returns to his old house in hope that they will return there to be re-united. As the days and weeks go by, with no sign of his parents returning, and with every last scrap of food having been consumed, Jamie is forced onto the streets of Shanghai, where he is rescued and taken in by two Americans, Basie (John Malkovich) and Frank (Joe Pantoliano).
Basie and ...
