Life In The Freezer - David Attenborough
Review of Life In The Freezer DVD by ivytoad

Advantages: So interesting, fun to watch, educational
Disadvantages: I want more episodes!!

I really love 'The Life Collection' from David Attenborough. The complete series of 'Life in the Freezer' was the third dvd of the collection that I bought. The series itself has six episodes which are all on one disc. They were originally transmitted in 1993. The six episodes are: Episode 1: The Bountiful Sea - All about the Southern Antarctic Ocean and the species in it Episode 2: The Ice Retreats - About when Spring comes and the wildlife ...
...the extreme conditions and how life continues, against all the odds. Episode 6: Footsteps In The Snow - The first man to stand in the South Pole and the struggle to get there. The dvd has a total running time of 174 minutes and each episode is around 30 minutes long. There are no special features on this dvd apart from the option of 'scene selection', this is quite a common feature on dvds these days, and nothing that special but it is nice and ... Read review

Explosive!
Review of Supervolcano (Wide Screen) by Coloneljohn

Advantages: Very factual
Disadvantages: Could cause sleepless nights, Lack of human interest possibly.

We know from our history and geography and geology lessons that the continents of our planet floats around on a thick liquid magma layer. Most of us take the ground for granted. Rock solid we say, but what happens when the rock is not solid? There have been some rather large volcanic eruptions and earthquakes in the past. Tambora in Indonesia in 1815. Krakotoa again in Indonesia in 1833, but the history records that there have been some that have ...
...nearly wiped it clean of life. These are the super volcanos. With our fast moving modern way of life, how would we cope with a super quake or eruption? Disaster has always fascinated us. We all know, thanks to the" Jaws" film, that the bringer of news of a disaster to come will not be believed. Commerce and/or tourism will have to go on as usual whilst underground are forces greater than the largest atomic warhead just waiting to be released on ... Read review

Review of Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? DVD by djtmj

Advantages: See review
Disadvantages: See review

Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? Firstly before we get into the meat of this review, I must apologise when I watched this film I had very high expectations, also at the time of writing I am incredibly nervous about the results of my GCSE's which I will find out in a few hours time. Introduction Where in the World… is a docudrama, directed, written by and starring Morgan Spurlock. Where in the World is Spurlock's second feature the first being ...
...this is not a film where Osama Bin Laden is tracked down by a single journalist where many US & UN army experts have failed. The film seems to be divided into 3 parts: 1) The son, there is an on going theme in this film about Spurlock's wife giving birth to a child; this is who the film is dedicated to. Spurlock uses this to relate to some of the people he interviews. 2) Training. Before Spurlock embarks on his travels he undergoes a vigorous anti ... Read review

"I'm against this sort of thing!"
Review of Taking Liberties DVD by Raef86

Advantages: Interesting, rousing, entertaining
Disadvantages: Bit biased, less insightful than the book

...hours of Extras on the Taking Liberties DVD, including: - Making Of Taking Liberties featurette - crew interviews and behind the scenes footage - Original promo - Theatrical trailer - Director's commentary - Additional extended interviews with Rachel North, Mark Thomas, Joanna Lumley, Boris Johnson, Shami Chakrabarti, Henry Porter, Andrew Gilligan, Lord Carlisle - Additional and extended footage of action at demonstrations - More information on ...
...claims for their ID card scheme SUMMARY I'd like everyone to have watched this at least once; for most people, it's an eye-opener. Failing that, it's worth owning for the front cover alone [Tony Blair grabbing some guy by his nuts]. For those who want something more indepth, I'd suggest checking out the book, also called 'Taking Liberties', and written by Chris Atkins. ... Read review
