The original Naked Gun
Review of Naked Gun (Wide Screen) by
IzzyS
Advantages: Very funny, quite witty at points, Leslie Neilson
Disadvantages: OJs in it
...seen other movies in the Naked Gun trilogy in the past and my dad used to be quite the fan, though he's seen them too many times now I believe, my mum is fed up of such movies so I watched this one in my own time lol. It was shown during the New Year holidays on TV and I decided to record it for later enjoyment, so I watched it last night and here's what its all about as well as my take on it, of course.
- Main Credits (non-actors, which are mentioned ... ...main acting cast) -
Naked Gun brings lieutenant Frank Drebin (played by Leslie Neilson) onto the big screen, in the first of three 'Naked Gun' movies. The character originally appeared in the TV comedy show 'Police Squad'. In this particular movie, as he tries to find out who tried to kill his friend and partner Detective Nordberg (played by OJ Simpson, yes 'that' OJ), after he tried to take down a gang of criminals who had been shipping in heroin ...

"Don't Call Me Shirley."
Review of Airplane! (Special Collector's Edition) by
secluded_crow
Advantages: Great Comedy Film
Disadvantages: none
"Airplane" has to be one of the funniest films in aviation history.
The storyline to Airplane involves a failed relationship between a beautiful cabin attendant (Julie Hagerty) and an ex-military pilot (Robert Hays) who can't let go of his past. He buys himself a plane ticket on the flight she is working on in an attempt to get his girlfriend back, but when all the pilots have bad fish for their lunch, Ted Stryker has to let go of his past, put ... ...up to the flight deck to save the day.
This movie is made hysterically funny by scenes that include the ticket desk issuing a "smoking" ticket, "Puttona de seatbeltz" signs, and air traffic controllers pulling the plug on the runway lighting when the stricken aircraft is on finals to land.
The great part of this paticular DVD are the special features or the Safety Features which include :
Commentary from the writer, directors and producer Jon ...

Hillarious spoof comedy !!
Review of Airplane! / Airplane 2 - The Sequel (Burgopack) by
hcjv6
Advantages: Non-stop laughter !!!!
Disadvantages: A little old......but oldies r the best !
I absolutely adore these two films, they make my side split with laughter from begining to end !!!! if you are not a fan of spoof and silly humour you may not apreciate them but if you are ever down in the dumps watch one of these, if you don't laugh or smile you need sectioning ha ha !!!!
Airplane details the story of Ted Striker an ex-fighter pilot who is forced to take control of an airliner when its crew are taken ill with food poisoning. His ... ...ordeal and with the likes of Leslie Neilson and Llyod Bridges as co stars you can imagine the amount of slapstick comedy involved.
Airplane 2 follows a similar story but this time with a space shuttle instead of a plane. The shuttle should have never been allowed to go and with a suicidal bomber on board and the ships supply of coffee about to run out the lunacy continues.
p.s - watch out for a suprise glance of the SS Enterprise and captain Kirk ...

Heart-warming
Review of Santa Who? DVD by
Lovlable2
Advantages: Brilliant acting, comedy, christmas!
Disadvantages: I would have love to see more christmas songs
...do start to think that Santa could be real! Its such a heart warming family film and so magnificent I would watch it again after again. The soundtrack of what they used blended brilliantly in the film. Magical music and Christmas themed songs. They weren't a lot of songs in the film, it was more special effect sounds for when Santa fell out of the sky, and when the snow fell. I think it could have been better if they used more Christmas songs in ... ...Christmas songs! I would compare this film to 'Elf' as that also was a heart-warming story and a comedy to. The story lines are completely different but the acting and the comedy range is just the same. The director of the film was William Dear. He has created many humorous films that we much love. Such as 'Harry and the Henderson's' also known as 'big foot'. 'If looks could kill' and 'school of life'. It seems to me that Williams's films just keep ...

Classic spoofs
Review of Airplane! / Airplane 2 - The Sequel (Double Pack) by
scarf-ace
Advantages: Great classic spoofery
Disadvantages: The second film is just recycling the first's jokes
Airplane tells a tale of terror 35000 feet in the air, as an illness incapacitates the pilot and his crew. The stewardesses struggle to keep the passengers calm, and desperately ask if anyone can fly the plane. Enter Ted Stryker, an ex wartime pilot who has a drinking problem and is haunted by his past.
Cue lots of high altitude comedy with some awesome joke and visual comedy.
Leslie Nielson is perfectly cast as the doctor on board who shows no ... ...the story of Ted and his drinking problem, as he struggles to get aboard a lunar shuttle that is headed for the moon. Ted test piloted this shuttle, and there is a problem with it. Nobody listens to him and so he has to sneak aboard....oh, and there's also a mad passenger on board with a bomb!
This time the basis for many of the jokes were already used in the first Airplane film, but new ones are introduced like the spoof take on the supercomputer ...
