Bottom at the top?
Review of Bottom - The Very Best Of Bottom DVD by themushroomgod

Advantages: Comedy packed dvd with bonus material
Disadvantages: the bonus material only lasts 5 minutes

...Spiers and Ed Bye Bottom has been a big source of laughs for me since an early age. Its one of the few comedy shows left thats not afraid to do something funny. In an age of political correctness it's nice to have an occaisional break from it all. Directed by Ed Bye, the same genius that brought us shows like red dwarf and the detectives, his midas touch gives the show that extra something that makes Bottom unforgettable. This is helped by Jon ...
...us Murder most horrid and the thin blue line. This Dvd promises 5 episodes of the classic comedy, including my personal favourite "holy". Rik Mayall is as ever, hilarious as Richie, and with the equally comic Ade Edmondson(Eddie) the Dvd is packed with laughs, the duo work so well together that in places it seems like they combine to create something majestic. without a strong storyline the pair focus a lot more on the laughs, which is very funny, ... Losing ideas?
Review of Bottom - Live 2001 DVD by dedweirdo

Advantages: As always, very funny
Disadvantages: repeats older material

...Well Compared to the previous bottom live performances, Rik and Ade seems to be losing ideas, as repetition shows. Despite this it has some very new funny ideas. In my opinion, it isn't the funniest episode with great meaning of a story, but is definitely and idea to buy. ... Read review

An Utter Waste of Money
Review of The Ladies Man (Wide Screen) by Blacknarwhal

Advantages: There's a halfway decent supporting cast here, and some good laughs.
Disadvantages: Tim Meadows does NOT have the talent to do anything over a ten minute sketch. Bad acting, soundtrack, storyline, everything

...It's yet another movie from the Saturday Night Live studios, who haven't exactly been churning out quality movies lately. Or quality shows, for that matter. Tim Meadows is Leon Phelps, a late-night, unintentionally foul-mouthed disc jockey with a lisp and essentially one joke: anything sexual. From reading his poem over Chicago's airwaves, "Doin' It In The Butt," to presenting his demo tape to various producers, in which we're repeatedly treated ...
...his late-night radio job for the aforementioned poem among many other FCC violations, he and his producer must go in search of work. But he has a good supporting cast. Billy Dee Williams plays the bartender-cum (no pun intended!)-narrator, whose narration is invariably taken as dialogue by the rest of the cast, who ask him, mystified, what he's talking about. Mark McKinney plays a religious radio station head who is indignant when he discovers the ... Read review

What a strange DVD
Review of The World Of Lee Evans DVD by nic63

Advantages: None I can think of
Disadvantages: The whole DVD

...came out at Christmas, ' The World of Lee Evans', I didn't hesitate to buy it, thinking that we could all sit down and have a good laugh one evening. Baring in mind that for some reason I didn't read to back the of the DVD, and just assumed it would be his normal stand up comedy, we settled down for an evening of laughter, put it on and waited while a strange sketch started, which seemed as if it was a repeat of an early 1970s comedy show. Thinking ...
...we waited and waited, but the sketch went on and on - and wasn't even funny - just really odd! It was at this point that we read the back of the DVD and discovered that the DVD was a series of short comedy dramas. We perservered through another 2 sketches which again were really odd and not funny at all until we could stand it no more and turned it off. I went back into the case and hasn't come back out since. Maybe it will be to someones humour, ... Read review
