Review of Sin City (Collector's Edition) by
shister_not
Advantages: A great storyline, fantastic acting and a plethora of special features
Disadvantages: Some may find it a bit too violent
...Marley Shelton based on the Sin City short story, The Customer is Always Right. The soft wind instruments and dark setting establish the tone for the rest of the film. The audience hears beautiful dialogue brought to a close by a gunshot. This close relationship between beauty and death reflects the world in which the film takes place, a world where violence and socially unacceptable behaviour is the norm. .
Sin City, with its film noir style is ... ...years. This may be because Sin City is unlike most well known comics. The main protagonists do not take on the role of traditional heroes, it can be argued that no character is particularly good but this does not stop them from being liked by the audience. One could argue that they fit Aristotle's criteria of a 'tragic hero', people not necessarily good, nor necessarily bad. Sin City is truer to its original medium the most adaptations to the point ...

Die Hard 4.0 - THE BLU RAY EXPERIENCE - MUST SEE
Review of Die Hard 4.0 DVD by
Jelboy
Advantages: Fast paced action with great cast and special effects.
Disadvantages: Timothy Olyphant is not the typical bad guy like previous Die Hards.
...the 4th part of the Die Hard series, and he has come back in style. He still epitomises all that made the first three films great, and infact goes further to make his character even more appealing. Die Hard has gone into the future, with Blue Ray that is. I had been waiting for years after Die Hard with Avengance to see Bruce Willis take up the role of John McClane in Live Free or die hard (DH4) and to see it in Blu Ray made it extra special. The ... ...experience was made specifically for Die Hard in my belief.
The plot of this Die Hard is quite different to the former installments. The film begins showing computer hackers providing sensitive material and information to an operative of a terrorist group. The hackers are tricked into giving the information and little do they know will be killed one by one. That is until after a breach of the FBI's headquarters they send John McClane to pick up ...

Just another day in paradise
Review of Die Hard 4.0 DVD by
Yobbey
Advantages: Insane action sequences, better 'Die Hard' feel compared to theactrical version
Disadvantages: Weak bad guy, not as gritty as previous Die Hard's despite this more explicit version
...action sequences you'll ever see, Die Hard 4.0 did not disappoint as far as entertainment is concerned, and this "Ultimate Action Edition" does give it more of a Die Hard feel with John McClane now at his usual foul-mouthed moody self, whereas in the Theatrical release McClane's inability to utter an F-word annoyingly softend his persona. The main villain, played by Olyphant, was a disappointment though and wasn't ruthless or evil enough as he could ... ...movie compared to the previous three films - even with the added CGI blood and more F-bombs being dropped. So in my opinion, it does come across as the weakest of the Die Hard series, but still one of the best action flicks in recent years. Definitely a must see! ...

Dying Harder Than Ever
Review of Die Hard 4.0 DVD by
readie25
Advantages: Good, coherent plot; Willis & Long perform well, excellent action
Disadvantages: none
...atomosphere surrounding the release of Die Hard 4 was coloured significantly by the much-laboured fact that twelve years had passed since Willis had last pulled on 'The White Vest' and gone to get his vengence, but it would appear that the series, and the man himself, have aged something like a fine wine.
I will admit, when i heard that the theme of electronic terrorism was going to be the lynchpin of the plot pf the new film, I was significantly ... ...mind, well worthy of the Die Hard badge, despite the twelve year recess. In fact, perhaps this was just what the doctor ordered for a series that was becoming unfortunately tired, following a dreary Die Hard 2 and the unspectacular 3. Willis, and notably the writers as well, have come back refreshed and ready to make a real Blockbuster of a movie - and one that is well worth parting with a little cash for. ...
