...couldn't go wrong with this, the perfect gift for a male teen, superlative special effects, awesome story line which also has some deep philosophical undertones, especially with regard to the neo-platonic concepts of Zion and an almost Nietsche like perspective of the modern heaven in a semi-mocking tone. Disadvantages: ... but fails, mainly through poor editing and production style.

...I'm Chain Reaction starts off with an intriguing premise and goes downhill from there, despite trying really hard to be a tense techno-thriller. In The initial idea, of a new power-source being developed from water (we're not talking traditional hydro-power here though) - which supposedly has the capacity to use the hydrogen in small glass of water to power the whole city of Chicago for weeks -is brilliant. The idea of the rich and powerful oil companies ...
...it's not bad. Chain There's a brain behind this film (somewhat a rarity for this genre), but unfortunately it's been rather lost in the translation. It's almost as though someone said, "Hey, here's a brilliant idea for a film, let's turn it into a mediocre movie" - and lo! - it became so. Johnny Mnemonic isn't that bad. Sure, I was 13 when I really liked this film and watched it whenever it was on in the afternoon but this movie isn't so bad that it would make people cry our pain. I've seen worse, and I've seen a lot better than Johnny Mnemonic. I think that, at the time, Johnny Mnemonic was an interesting film. It had an anti-corporate message, love conquers all, and anti-hero themes... sure these are always the themes being rehashed ...
...add to the world where Johnny and Jane live. I can't believe that ppl recommended Strange Days over Johnny Mnemonic... at least Johnny Mnemonic had a story that relatively held together as the film progresses and an ending that didn't seem forced. As a 13 year old who was getting to know what Cyberpunk was, Johnny Mnemonic was a great film, I suppose people will either hate it or like it. ... Read review
