Advantages: Good film with great effects
Disadvantages: Could have done with a stronger plot

...This film is set in 10,000 BC so I cannot actually comment on what is real and what has been made up. My husband says that the Egyptians did not in fact use mammoths when using the pyramids, I did think that they were elephants in the film as their tusks had been removed and I could not tell the difference. ...it all seemed to fit in well with the film and gave the plot a little more depth. The story was quite good but it did seem to need a bit more and more stronger characters to give it a little more depth and interest. The effects which were used for the animals and the pyramids were all very good and did look quite real. The film was directed by the same person who did Independence Day and Day after Tomorrow so if you refer to those films for the quality ... Read review

Advantages: Solid acting... sweet romance... nice graphics.
Disadvantages: Historically inaccurate.

After all, it's not like there aren't any other movies out there that use known 'formats'. Advantages: Visually Stunning.
Disadvantages: Same old Same.

10,000 BC. This will be a short review which is what this film deserves. From the director of 'Independence Day' and 'The Day After Tomorrow' comes a film that is visually stunning. The film starts with D'Leh as a young boy, when hunters return having found a young girl with blue eyes, Evolet The witch of the village predicts that soon Warlords will come and attack the village. ...by the warlords and D'Leh sets off on a quest that will involve love, honour, spirits, adventure, death, redemption and salvation. Oh and along the way he will pick up an army. The acting is not the best, but I suppose playing someone just above a caveman doesn't need Noel Coward. The commentary that comes at intervals is accented and unneccessary. The story really is predictable and nothing new. The costumes of the bad guys are a bit 'mad max'. ... Read review

Advantages: Some good performances in a reasonable thriller
Disadvantages: Too opened out, and the baddy realy does stink

These are director Donner and the film's writer introducing and talking annoyingly over several deleted and extended scenes, and introducing a very different ending.
