A great k-night in!
Review of A Knight's Tale DVD by
Luvlylana
Advantages: Comedic, great value
Disadvantages: Perhaps a tad long
...pick up this DVD at a car boot sale at a local school, for the grand total of £1. The fact that someone was willing to practically give away the film I thought did not really bode well, but it turned out I got a complete bargain!
A Knight's Tale is a charming, comedic tale inspired by "The Canterbury Tales". It tells of a peasant squire (played by the late Heath Ledger) who passes himself off as a knight to take part in a jousting tournament, and ... ...is that he partakes in a number of jousting and sword tournaments, earning friends, enemies and romance along the way.
One of the first things that hit me was the superb soundtrack that accompanied the film. For one thing, I never expected a film about the middle ages to have such a modern soundtrack, let alone include music royalty, such as Queen, David Bowie, Robbie Williams and Heart.
The first time I watched the film, my friends and I watched ...

A View To A Kill
Review of A View To A Kill (Ultimate Edition) by
Alan-RMFB
Advantages: Plenty of action scenes
Disadvantages: Roger Moore being too old
This is a good James Bond film and unlike Roger Moore's previous outings as James Bond this is more serous and has less sillyness to it thankfully. It starts off with a great ski hase as Bond tries to retrieve a micro chip from another OO. The next big sequence has the villian parachuting from the Eiffel Tower and Bond giving chase through the streets, where Bond "breaks every traffic law". Later in the film we see Bond trapped inside a burning building ... ...villian attempts to destroy Silicon Valley. With plenty of fight scenes thrown in between what I've menitioned. Christopher Walken gives an excellent performance as the vilian. The only problem I have with this film is that Rogers' old and wrinky. But still gives a excellent performance as OO7 ...

A View to a Kill
Review of A View To A Kill DVD by
IanM73
Advantages: Great last Bond film for Roger
Disadvantages: Not rated as Roger Moore's best Bond
As A View to a kill was the first Bond film I ever saw in the cinema and I have very good memories of it, I thought I should review this one.
This was made in 1985 and was Roger Moores last outing as James Bond, he did not really want to do this one as he thought that he was too old at this stage to play the part. The storyline was actually set up for the new Bond Timothy Dalton but there was a last minute hitch and the film Dalton was currently ... ...the role.
This had a very good cast setting With Roger in the title role, Christopher Walken playing the main villain Max Zorin, Grace Jones as his sidekick Mayday, Tanya Roberts playing Bonds love interest Stacey Sutton, and the Bond regulars Desmond Llewelyn as Q, and Lois Maxwell as miss moneypenny
This was filmed in Pinewood studios in London, and had settings in Paris and San Francisco. When filming in Paris it took a very long time to get ...

Roger Moore's last outing as Bond at 57!!!
Review of A View To A Kill DVD by
pmcds
Advantages: Great fast paced action
Disadvantages: Moore too old, too much killing
...003's corpse, Bond picks up a microchip which is an exact replica of one manufactured by Zorin Industries, owned by the eccentric businessman, Max Zorin. Bond goes undercover to meet Zorin and finds out that he is producing a revolutionary microchip, and that in order to conquer the microchip market, he is planning to destroy Silicon Valley through a series of earthquakes. Bond must team up with oil company owner Stacey Sutton to take on Zorin, his ... ...ease.
Patrick Macnee gives a good turn as a very British horse trainer, Sir Godfrey Tibbett, and Tanya Roberts is good as Bond girl Stacey Sutton, as is Fiona Fullerton as Pola Ivanova. David Yip has a cameo performance. Robert Brown, Desmond Llewelyn and Lois Maxwell return as M, Q and Miss Moneypenny, and the rest of the cast support admirably.
My Opinion
The soundtrack to this Bond ilm haunts me, probably due to the title track, performed by ...

I'm still sniggering, is that good?
Review of Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever (Wide Screen) by
MisterSlimm
Advantages: It's action-packed and short
Disadvantages: It's pants
Universally reviled action movie which might well have the stupidest plot in history (and not deliberately so, either). It's not quite as bad as you might infer but make no mistake, it's not good. What there is is plenty of action, plenty of explosions and some girls-with-guns action. I sniggered my way quite happily through it though that isn't enough to recommend it.
>>> Plot teaser
Jeremy, though he'd probably prefer you call him Agent Ecks ... ...ten minutes from the end), is coerced into tracking down a ruthless mega-kidanpper Asian babe. Because he is so brilliant he doesn't bother with detective work and instead waits for the next shootout in a mall. That'll be her but before he has a chance to put her down, he is told that she is the key to finding out what happened to his wife, killed some years earlier. Oh, did I forget that he was an agent-with-a-past?
