Dirty Harry faces a crazed sniper named Scorpio.
Review of Dirty Harry (Special Edition) by
filmfreak2005
Advantages: Clint Eastwood at his best.
Disadvantages: None to list.
...is the first of the Dirty Harry series, and in this film, Harry and the San Francisco police department face a lunatic sniper who names himself 'Scorpio' (Andy Robinson) . At the start of the film, Scorpio shoots dead a young woman who is taking a swim in a rooftop swimming pool. Scorpio demands a ransom of $100,000 or he will continue to kill one person per day.
Harry is given a new partner in the form of Chico Gonzalez (Reni Santoni). Harry's ... ...then punches him. Also the Dirty Harry classic line is used twice in this film - 'I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? To tell the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world...and would blow your head clean off. You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?'
A brilliant film with good solid performances from ...

The Original Hard-Nosed Cop
Review of Dirty Harry DVD by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: A true classic.
Disadvantages: Clothes and hairstyles are somewhat dated!
...took the opportunity to include Dirty Harry as one of my selections.
~ ~ Certain characters have now entered cinema folklore and taken on almost iconic stature. Most everyone will have seen at least one "Rambo" movie with Sly Stallone, or one of the Harrison Ford "Raider" series. And then you have the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, Bruce Willis in the "Die Hard" series, and Mel Gibson in "Lethal Weapon". It would be fair to say ... ...~ ~ The original Dirty Harry movie that the subsequent series was based on took the movie world by storm back in 1971, and caused a furore in the media worldwide. Back then the star, Clint Eastwood, wasn't the well-known and respected Oscar-winning actor that he is today. In fact, he was best known as a leading actor in Westerns, in particular the "Fistful of Dollars" series, and in the long-playing TV series "Rawhide". (1959 - 1966) So it was a ...

Review of Coogan's Bluff DVD by
pc2308
Advantages: Good acting by Eastwood
Disadvantages: Poor quality film, low Budget, bad script
Coogan's Bluff is a very low budget film starring Clint Eastwood. Made in 1968 after his successful run of Spaghetti Westerns, Eastwood stars in two films in this year. Coogan's Bluff and Where Eagles Dare. The Producer / Director Don Siegel (Dirty Harry, A Mule For Sister Sara, Escape From Alcatraz), used Herman Miller and co-writers Dean Riesner, Howard Rodmans script to bring to the screen through Universal Pictures - Coogan's Bluff. The film ... ...3 millions dollars), but the relationship between Siegel and Eastwood would be set for the next ten years where the character played by Eastwood, would be developed in to the well known and popular Inspector Harry Callahan (Dirty Harry).
The Story....

Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang
Review of The Gauntlet (Wide Screen) by
wampyrii
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...Bang! Well thats the plot dealt with.
Want more info? Hmmm...well ok, let me try to think...Well we have a movie directed by and starring Clint Eastwood along with the woman in his life at the time Sandra Locke. Clint plays a washed up Phoenix cop who looks like he has been sleeping in the same clothes for about a month and who has a drink problem. He opens the door of his car and out pours a stream of bottles, cans etc. Of course, this means that ... ...witness across country to the courthouse in which she is to testify. This witness is Sandra Locke, a prostitute(why does clint always have his wives girlfriends etc. cast as hookers, or molested in some way...hmm) who has more intelligence in her handbag than our dumbass hero has in his whole body. Everyone is out to get them but dear old Clint's character can't see this...well not until the first preposterous action scene. Ths movie excells in presposterous ...

WARNING...Men Only
Review of Heartbreak Ridge DVD by
wampyrii
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...by and starring Clint Eastwood Heartbreak Ridge is a movie which quite literally stinks of sweat, stale beer and testosterone. Its a movie whose case sits on the shelf wreathed in cigar smoke and threatens to offer you outside were you even to look sideways at it. Indeed, the only other movies who dare sit near it are other Eastwood movies, a couple of Stallones and a few Schwarzennegers....the Van Damnes ran and hid behind Mary Poppins' dress in ... ...it to such good effect. Heartbreak Ridge is a movie which comes straight out of the file marked "Generic Military B-Movie" but one which is done with such colourful characters and raw energy that you can't help but get sucked in if you like a good tough guy movie. It sets its stall out from the opening scene which introduces us to our 'hero' Tom "Gunney" Highway...a beer swilling washed up old has-been(or never-really-was) military bloke in a bar...who ...
