Zulu might be a good or even a great film, but when you get it on the box every Christmas for the last twenty years, it gets a bit much. The problem is that you're so sick of it and know so much about it that you never actually sit down and watch it all the way through - in fact, I have to admit that I do not remember EVER watching it from start to finish. Now, that's the problem the film has to contend with - having said all of that, it is a pretty good film. Starring Michael Caine and Stanley Baker as officers in the army force charged with defending Rourke's Drift in the Zulu uprising of the 19th Century it depicts their last stand and eventual slaughter at the hands of thousands of fanatical Zulus who are fighting for their nation. Baker and Caine give good performances and the film is excellent. Now, if I can just be bothered to watch it....
