I see that this film has got mixed reviews, even a few people I know have said they found it hillarious. I personally thought it was a few steps away from being dire. I have to say I've not seen that many Sandler films but what I have (I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, Happy Gilmore and 50 First Dates, I thought they were ok), so I had no reason to expect a disaster when it came to Zohan.

Sandler with his bufonted hairstyle was hard for me to recognise, I have to admit there were a few moments of slapstick laughter or parts which I found funny but definitely not enough considering the whole film was a joke and there was a joke in just about every line.
Sandler (Zohan) is a Special Forces agent in Israel and wants to be a hairdresser instead, with an old Paul Mitchell magazine he heads to the US much to his parents disgust to take up hairdressing. It takes him along time to get a job but eventually he does so at a Palestinian salon despite the fact he is trying to avoid both Palestinians and Israelis to move on to a new life.

Apart from that, the story line is full of gross situations, Zohan's obsession with doing revolting things and slapping his willy and a cast full of lusting grannies. The film makes no sense and is not particularly funny, the Israeli and Palestinian accents are over the top (though I did spot some of the Arabic was at least real Arabic and not some made up rubbish) it is topped off with a sickly too good to be true ending and as someone else mentioned - there are also pointless cameos made by Mariah Carey and John McEnroe. I spent my whole time wondering why?! The one redeeming feature is the beautiful and graceful Emmanuelle Chiqrui as Dalia Hakbarah and intrigues me to see more of her films, hopefully with a less immature cast!
A $90 million dollar budget spent on this and what a let down!
