Advantages: adam sandlers charm and humor

There is a certain scene at the beginning where he cooks fish naked on a beach when he throws it up in the air and catches it in his backside which is always a thoroughly amusing part. He then gets taken off by his commander, to capture a terrorist. Zohan has other ideas... He wants to cut and style hair. When he tells his parents this they certainly don't take the idea seriously. ...

...Adam Sandler at his best, really funny movie with excellent cameo roles by rob schneider and jon turturro. Sandler plays an israeli special forces soldier, who fakes his own death so that he can live his dream of becoming a hair stylist in America, he offers "special services" to his clientelle in the backroom. Well worth watching, especially if you are a big Adam Sandler fan, as this is one of his best roles to date, It's got all the classic comedy that you associste with Sandler, it's got the love interest in sexy actress, Emmanuelle Chriqui and the jokes are fast flowing, well thought up and delivered to perfection. Advantages: Funnier than recent Sandler Output
Disadvantages: Overtly sexual, lacking story development

...Takei's cameo being the most amusing especially if you have followed the Star Trek actor's recent personal life. You Don't Mess With The Zohan over compensates with the comedy, and lets the actual plot sit on the back burner there really is very little to the movie, but if you compare it to Sandler's output over the past five years it is by far the best movie in that time. An added bonus of the movie is that it does not go over the top on the love angle either, while Zohan has a woman in his sights it's a very small part of the movie. I look forward to seeing the DVD of this over the next couple of months so I can assess the movie properly having had time to give it my full attention, but for now one thing is for sure it's bound to be a hit. Advantages: Some decent stunt sequences.
Disadvantages: It's not funny.

...and ethereal vocals and some Bond-style electric guitar and brass and strings for the super-soldier segments. The salons are represented by wistful flutes and clarinets. Otherwise the soundtrack comprises of some naff-sounding Israeli hip-hop, the cheesiest version of Alphabeat's "Fascination" you've ever heard, "I Wanna Sex You Up", the Stereo MCs' "Connected", "Pump Up the Jam", a version of the "Rocky" theme tune played on Middle Eastern instruments and plenty of Mariah Carey. It doesn't really hang together as a body of work, so I suppose it fits the rest of the film. "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" is a dreadful stab at comedy that fails utterly for one very simple reason; it isn't funny. This is as a result of lacklustre direction, poor writing and bad performances. I think Adam Sandler has to shoulder much of the blame as he wrote and stars... Read review
