Just Say "YES!!!!"

Advantages: Enjoyable, funny, light-hearted, different from other romantic comedies
Disadvantages: If you dont like Jim Carrey you wont enjoy it!

Yes Man is a comedy starring Jim Carrey. The film is based on a book by Danny Wallace and basically tells the story of a man who starts to say ?Yes? to every opportunity that comes his way regardless of what it is. Interestingly enough Danny Wallace makes a little appearance sitting at the bar, I knew it was him as I had seen him on Richard and Judy some time ago talking about his book and his experiences of deciding to say yes to every opportunity. The main character in the film is Carl Allen who is played by Jim Carrey. Carl is a bit of a miserable man, he says no to everything at work and in his personal life. His friends are starting to give up on him because he wont go out with them and makes up lame excuses about why he cant meet them. Review of Yes Man

Say no to this Yes Man

Advantages: It ends eventually
Disadvantages: The crude scenes, swearing

expected my son to see (albeit mainly but not wholly inferred) at his age. I'm no prude, and we did chuckle later in the film at Carl riding a motorbike in a hospital gown, with his butt hanging out for the entire world to see, but the other scene was just too much. Apart from that, it just wasn't funny, the premise of the film allows for a million laughs, but I think we managed about 3 or 4 chuckles between us, the script was just too weak, and the execution too poor. None of the cast really stood out for me, but if I had to pick the best of the bunch I'd actually choose Bradley Cooper, as he seemed to have a more varied repertoire than the others. Jim Carrey, the man who like to say yes?

Advantages: Quirky, endearing performances. Restrained Carrey
Disadvantages: Random gross-out moments are misplaced.

Carl is a man who doesn't say "yes" to much. As a result he has managed to be rejected for promotion and has become isolated from friends as he lets them down time after time. Endless DVD nights on his own are commonplace and his life becomes more tragic by the minute. However, a chance meeting with an old friend may well change all that as Carl is about to become the man who likes to say yes! "Yes Man" is massively different from what I was expecting. The concept is almost a verbatim copy of Jim Carrey's previous film "Liar Liar" and I was expecting more of the same. However, refreshingly this is a more subtle affair from that rubber-faced slapstick comedy. A gentile romantic-comedy, "Yes Man" contains a surprisingly subdued Carrey and is better for it.
