So far I have really enjoyed the X Men films and so I couldn't wait to watch the latest offering from the X Men stable. I trotted off to my local cinema as soon as I had the opportunity and here is my review I have tried really hard not to give too much away so as not to spoil the film for anybody who hasn't yet seen it.
X Men For those of you who are not familiar with the X men movies, Origins: Wolverine is the 4th movie in the series. X Men was originally a comic book by Marvel that has ben adapted into cartoon and movie format. The X Men are basically humans who have mutated. Not all the mutations are obvious some mutations are not visable. Unlike the first three movies X Men Origins: Wolverine, goes back into one of the character's pasts, in this case Wolverine, so we can see how he came to be and what shapes him.
Wolverine's Story The story begins in 1845. James
Howlett's father is killed by his friend Victor's dad, Thomas Logan. Sharp bones suddenly grow out of James' hands and he kills Logan out of vengance, unfortunately it soon becomes apparent that Logan is James' real father and Victor his his half brother. The two boys go on the run and agree to always look out for one another. Victor also has wolf like traits although slightly different to James'. The boys grow into men and fight in the American Civil war, although as they both possess powers of regeneration they continue fighting in various wars right up until Vietnam when Victor (the more violent and less caring of the two) kills a superior officer resulting in the pair facing a firing squad which they both survive. Because of their unique abilities the brothers come to the attention of Major William Stryker who has put together an elite team of mutants known as Team X. The brothers join the team but James is becoming more and more disgusted with all the death and killings going on around him and leaves the group and his brother behind. Six years pass and James is now going by the name Logan, leading a happy life with his girlfriend, Kayla and working as a lumberjack in the Canadian Rockies. All is well until Stryker shows up to inform Logan that some of the other members of Team X have been killed and he he wants Logan to help them catch the murderer. Logan refuses until Kayla is killed by his own brother. Logan wants revenge for Kayla's and this time goes to Stryker for help, he reinforces Logan skeleton with a new kind of indestructible metal. Once the hunt for Victor is on Logan begins to realize that he has actually been used and also double crossed.

My Opinion Well obviously as I went to see this at the cinema I can't review any extras cos there weren't any. Being and X Men fan anyway I loved it.. The story totally explained Wolverine's past right up to where we meet him the first X Men film. There are a few surprises along the way, though it isn't really very shocking stuff or unpredicatble. I do realize this film won't be for everyone but what it does lack in story it makes up for in action and special effects there is never a dull moment. I also found it quite exciting that w get to me some of the mutants that haven't yet appeared in the other films like Gambit. The mainly male cast do a great job, Hugh Jackman is a great actor and can seem to turn his hand to most genres and it was good to see Liev Schrieber doing something different to the norm. This film should appeal to both genders, men will love the action and the stunning Kayla while women have their pick of the eye candy with all the men in this flick. And like all good films there's romance thrown in for good measure. The only two problems I had with this film is that Ryan Reynolds and Dominic Monaghan's roles were too short. I would highly recommend this movie but only to action/superhero film fans. If you haven't seen the first X Men movie you could watch this and then then go on to watch the others. I loved it and I'm really looking forward to seeing the next X Men Origins film, which I believe is going to be Magneto's story
Running Time 107 mins

Hugh Jackman can't escape Wolverine's claws as he returns for a fourth turn as the Marvel ... more
mutant. Gavin Hood (RENDITION, TSOTSI) directs this film that takes place before the three previous X-Men movies and explores Wolverine's mysterious past.
