I have been an X-men fan for a few years now, well not really a fan, more of a keen watcher of the cartoon series. I have never read any of the Marvel comics, only watched the television series whenever possible. This does seem to make it a lot easier to follow things on the big screen as I already had an idea of who or what these people were or did.
You don't need this knowledge to follow the film, my girlfriend enjoyed the film even after her several minutes of moaning about going to see "another sci-fi action type thing film", and needless to say she had never even seen any of the cartoon series.
On the whole a great movie and worth seeing, if you like this sort of thing. On the other hand though, it would be nice to see a film with a plot that kept you guessing up to the end, instead of one that has one of those ever increasingly predictable endings.
Glad to see that "Rogue" got her streaks to the end of the film.
