McKellan) is still a prisoner of the US government, heroic bad-boy Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is up in Canada investigating his mysterious origin, and the events at Liberty Island (which occurred at the conclusion ofX-Men) have prompted a rethink in official policy towards mutants--the proposed Mutant Registration Act has been shelved by US Congress. Into this scenario pops wealthy former Army commander William Stryker, a man with the President's ear and a personal vendetta against all mutant-kind in general, and the X-Men's leader Professor X (Patrick Stewart) in particular. Once he sets his plans into motion, the X-Men must team-up with their former enemies Magneto and Mystique (Rebecca Romjin-Stamos), as well as some new allies (including Alan Cumming's gregarious, blue-skinned German mutant, Nightcrawler). The phenomenal global success ofX-Menmeant that director Bryan Singer had even more money to spend on its sequel, and it shows. Not only is the script better (there's significantly less cheesy dialogue than the original), but the action and effects are also even more stupendous--from Nightcrawler's teleportation sequence through the White House to a thrilling aerial dogfight featuring mutants-vs-missiles to a military assault on the X-Men's school/headquarters to the final showdown at Stryker's sub-Arctic headquarters. Yet at no point do the effects overtake the film or the characters. Moreso than the original, this is an ensemble piece, allowing each character in its even-bigger cast at least one moment in the spotlight (in fact, the cast credits don't even run until the end of the film). And that, perhaps, is part of its problem (though it's a slight one)--with so much going on, and nary a recap of what's come before, it's a film that could prove baffling to anyone who missed the first installment. But that's just a minor quibble--X-Men 2is that rare thing, a sequel that's actually superior to its predecessor.--Robert Burrow

flagship characters, Superman and Batman (who originated in the late 1930s) have established themselves as big-screen franchises. Until now--this is the first runaway hit film version of the alternative superheroX-Menuniverse created for Marvel Comics by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and others. It's a rare comic-book movie that doesn't fall over its cape introducing all the characters, and this is the exception.X-Mendrops us into a world that is closer to our own thanBatman's Gotham City, but it's still home to super-powered goodies and baddies. Opening in high seriousness with paranormal activity in a WW2 concentration camp and a senatorial inquiry into the growing "mutant problem", Bryan Singer's film sets up a complex background with economy and establishes vivid, strange characters well before we get to the fun. There's Halle Berry flying and summoning snowstorms, James Marsden zapping people with his "optic beams", Rebecca Romijn-Stamos shape-shifting her blue naked form, and Ray Park lashing out with his Toad-tongue. The big conflict is between Patrick Stewart's Professor X and Ian McKellen's Magneto, super-powerful mutants who disagree about their relationship with ordinary humans, but the characters we're meant to identify with are Hugh Jackman's Wolverine (who has retractable claws and amnesia), and Anna Paquin's Rogue (who sucks the life and superpowers out of anyone she touches). The plot has to do with a big gizmo that will wreak havoc at a gathering of world leaders, but the film is more interested in setting up a tangle of bizarre relationships between even more bizarre people, with solid pros such as Stewart and McKellen relishing their sly dialogue and the newcomers strutting their stuff in cool leather outfits. There are in-jokes enough to keep comics' fans engaged, but it feels more like a science fiction movie than a superhero picture. --Kim Newman

Well as you may know X men 3: The last stand is already out in cinemas this summer but if you're thinking you missed the first 2. Well buy this great DVD and if you want buy X men 2 as well to fulfill what you've missed out on. A great action and adventure film based on the long-running Marvel comic book series; X-MEN which takes place in the near future, as certain humans are evolving into mutants with magnificent powers.
It's a rare comic-book movie that doesn't fall over its cape introducing all the characters, and this is the exception. Well this fantabulous movie is full of great actors starring the following actors: Bruce Davison, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, James Marsden, Hugh Jackman, Tyler Mane, Ray Park, Matthew Sharp - with stunning performances throughout, together they make this movie incomparable to a lot of other movies out there.
Director of this is Bryan Singer and what a great job he has done with not just this movie but the Xmen 2 and 3.
The Genre of this movie is an Action and Adventure film - only to be expected from comic book heroes and villians.
The DVD's original release date was 03/05/2004, and the certificate rating is 15. Or i really wouldn't think so considering there's hardly any swearing or nudity or things like that -well thats my opinion but i think it's rated a "15" because of all the action and maybe some parts are scarier than others but i can't understand why this movie is given that certificate rating.
The duration of the actual movie is approximately 100 minutes which is actaully great for timing. It beats sitting and watching something like Lord of the Rings for 3 and a half hours on end - now that's truly ridiculous.
Now this is what i found very odd in the specification for this movie because the subtitles are in Dutch and Swedish... Why bother? I'm sure there's not that many dutch and swedish people in the UK of all places. I guess action and adventure movies a real great hit over there.....hmmm.... Although obviously, if you're wondering, the language of this movie is all in English so don't worry about a thing.
The Screen/Video format is available as 2.35 Anamorphic Wide Screen\16:9 Anamorphic Wide Screen.
This movie was released by 20TH CENTURY FOX HOME ENTERTAINMENT DELUXE VIDEO SERVICE
The Audio is set for DTS 5.1\Dolby Digital 5., and the DVD is for "region 2" users only, so it's fine to use for everyone in the United Kingdom.

The scenes are set in the Canadian wilderness, a young runaway mutant named Rogue (Anna Paquin), who felt like an outcast because of her powers, and almost killed her boyfriend with a single kiss. And a bad-tempered, quick-healing mutant with retractable metal claws, which shoot out of his knuckles, called Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) are suddenly attacked by the powerful Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his lackeys. As you may know, form his name, Magneto has the special power of Magneticism and he is very potent indeed in comparison to all of the other mutants. Fortunately, Cyclops (James Marsden) and Storm (Halle Berry), 2 students of the compassionate Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) who have been practising their powers mucvh longer than Wolverine and Rogue who are simply new to all of this, interfere and bring them back to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. It is Xavier who gives them the name of X-MEN...
Here Wolverine and Rogue learn more about the conflict between Xavier and Magneto and learn about their history. Magneto wants to power a device that will genetically alter humans, with possibly deadly results so it's only Xavier's students that can stop Magneto's plans from causing destruction in the human race.
Magneto's plans are put into action but will he succeed? You'll have to watch the film to find that out. But he does go to an extent which causes Rogue to begin ageing and that's the reason for the blonde streak in her hair.º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º CAST º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤
Director Bryan Singer displays his expertise with a brilliantly grouped cast, accomplishing a feature by making the first live-action film about an entire group of superheroes. Hugh Jackman's portrayal of the ill-tempered Wolverine is perfect. You can't really ask for a better cast to be honest.
Bruce Davison plays the role of senator kelly.
Ian McKellen as MAGNETO. With ausom powers of magneticism he is difficult to beat.
Patrick Stewart plays the role of Professor Charles Xavier. Has the powers of Telepathy.
Famke Janssen as Jean Grey also has the powers of telepathy like Charles xavier yet not yet as powerful in the slightest way.
Halle Berry plays the role of Ororo Munroe who is more commonly known as Storm. Fantastic powers, in fact, my favourite, the power to conjure storms and blizzards and use her element of water to destructive use.
Anna Paquin plays Rogue. Has the powers to drain energy from people by the single touch as she almost killed her previous boyfriend with just one kiss, a touch of the lips...
James Marsden plays Scott Summers but more commonly known as CYCLOPS. Has ausom powers to release lasers from his eyes. Which is the reason why he wears glasses.
Hugh Jackman plays WOLVERINE but his real name in the movie is LOGAN. His inner body, all of his bones have a metal structure and he shoots out metal claws from his knuckles and aslo has the power to self heal rapidly.
Tyler Mane plays the evil Sabertooth who is in fact on Magnet's side.
Ray Park plays TOAD, also one of Magneto's allies. The name is self explanatory- he's a toad, and an annoying one too.
Matthew Sharp plays Henry Gyrich. º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º DVD FEATURES º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤

I think this is a great film and definately worth watching. If you get a chance make sure you watch all 3! It will be worth it. There's so much action and drama and especially in the second film. Great actors and astounding special effects. I really like how it's based on something so child like which is superheroes yet they've turned this movie into something great for us all.

Well the reccommended retail price is a shocking £22.99. Now personally, great movie and all, don't get me wrong, but i personally wouldn't pay that much. I'm sure you can find a cheaper one from ebay and Amazon. I'm sure i've seen quite a few of these for sale for just £8.95. So if you're interested in buying this DVD, just look around on a few internet shops and what better than to watch this movie on Widescreen. For some reason i've always preferred wide screen. I highly reccommend this DVD though. Hope you enjoy it..... : )
Thanks for reading my review and hope you decide to watch the full trilogy of Xmen: Xmen 1 and 2 and the 3: Last Stand which is out in the cinemas so please go and see it. And bby the way please can you give my review a rating and a comment. Cheers.
Advantages: Great films great action sequences Disadvantages: a few of the cartoons charectors were missing
The X-men are a group of the most legondary and famous super heroes ever. X-men1.5 has some extra footage and some bounus material that was never origonally in the version released at the cinema. This is great as it gives a slight bit of extra knowledge to the stories and shows you more about what is happening.
X-men1.5.
The world is being divided into two very different groups those that are 'normal' and those that are evolving mutants. These mutants all have individual and extrordinary abbilities, however there are two groups of people the X-men those that wish to use their powers for the greater good of humanity to help the planet. Lead by Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) the x-men are the same as the comics Storm, cyclops, Jean Grey and of course wolverine. They are against Magnetos group those that would kill humans to ...
Advantages: Hugh Jackman. Hugh Jackman. Oh, and Hugh Jackman. Disadvantages: you do really need to see the first film before this
's arms? For a year and a half I have been re-watching the first film and drooling over the trailors on the X-Men1.5DVD, waiting for the 2 hour Hugh-fest that is X-Men 2. I even have two X2 movie posters on my wall at this very moment.
Don't commit me just yet, please.
Before you see this film, I would recomment renting or buying X-Men, the first in the series, to get an idea of what's going on. It's not necessary but it will clear up a few queries you might have, and introduces the characters in more detail.
In X-Men 2, we meet all the old characters:
First the X-Men themselves - Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Wolverine/Logan (Hugh Jackman), Storm (Halle Berry), Cyclops (James Marsden) and Jean Grey (Famke Janssen). We also have extended roles for Rogue/Marie (Anna Paquin), Iceman/Bobby (Shawn Ashmore) and Pyro ...

DVD Description
Based on the long-running Marvel comic book series, X-MEN takes place in the near future, as certain humans are evolving into mutants with special powers. In the Canadian wilderness, a young runaway mutant named Rogue (Anna Paquin) and a bad-tempered, quick-healing mutant with retractable metal claws called Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) are suddenly attacked by the powerful Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his lackeys. Fortunately, Cyclops (James Marsden) and Storm (Halle Berry), students of the compassionate Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), interfere and bring them back to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Here Wolverine and Rogue learn more about the conflict between Xavier and the militant Magneto, who wants to power a device that will genetically alter humans, with possibly deadly results. Only Xavier's students can stop Magneto's plans. Director Bryan Singer (THE USUAL SUSPECTS) displays his expertise with an ensemble cast, accomplishing a feat by making the first live-action film about an entire group of superheroes. Hugh Jackman's portrayal of the ill-tempered Wolverine is dead-on, while Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are ideally matched in their Martin Luther King, Jr.- and Malcolm X-like roles. Smart and well-paced, X-MEN towers above most comic book movies.
