I bought this DVD for Ł2. The next level from the director of Die Another Day promised to be "The best action film of the year". I like action and adventure films, but when it is done in way that I really cant breathe and can believe to everything. But this film was not the case.The special effects were very poor and I still shaked with my head, what the director thought about when he did it. Many many poor actions which seem to me excessive and appropriate just for kids. The storyline was bit obscure at the beginning but you have to wait and in the middle of the film it is clearer. The idea of the film is quite good and I really like the main character played by Ice Cube. He looks really cool there. You can also see Scott Speedman and Willem Dafoe from Spider-Man in this film. The story is about troublemaker whose criminal records and extreme sports obsession make him the ideal candidate to be the newest xXx agent. When a well-informed strike team launch a deadly assault on a secret NSA base, Agent Augustus Gibbons realises he needs outside help. These films are really good, I must admit I do like the second xxx2 the nextlevel better that the first. I hope they bring a thrid out, the way the second is left leaves it open for a follow up. Vin is a really good actor but he is hardly in the second of any of his films and this is no exception. The second one is more upbeat and positive. The idea of the film is to recruit seceret agents that have been "Bad" a little like assasin if you have ever seen that. The agents then go undercover, to stop people causing a war between the 2 major countries. Tthe second one is a follow on from the first where the team get captured and the new xxx has to save the day, this is played by Ice Cube (from are we there and done yet) ...
Advantages: Spectacular stunts and action scenes. Disadvantages: story line leaves much to be desired.
i found these films a bit boring to start with because of the lack of a gripping story ,but the big bangs of gun fire and the gravity defiiying stunt show thats on offer in these two films balances that out .so if you are a vin deisal fan or an ice cube lover with a passion for blowing things up you'll be right at home with this action flick , but if your more of a slower paced drama fan i would give this flick a miss.i would like to say that i did prefer the first xxx film to the second ,but on the up side the box set is crammed full of extras and special features . ...

DVD Description
Ice Cube replaces Vin Diesel for this hard-bangin' sequel which favours fists, cars, and snooping over the original's heavy dose of extreme sports stunts. NSA agent Gibbons (Samuel Jackson, back from the original) finds his group under attack by well-armed, well-informed combatants, forcing him to activate a new XXX, Darius Stone (Cube), an old Navy Seal buddy currently cooling his heels in an army prison. It turns out there's a plan to whack the president (Peter Strauss) and a deranged secretary of defence played by Willem Dafoe is behind it. What's more important is the cool way Darius knows how to land a speeding boat on a bridge, then walk away in slow motion as it blows up behind him. Other great scenes include a tank battle on an aircraft carrier and a race with a bullet train that makes THE FRENCH CONNECTION look like a turtle race. There's some hilarious dialogue, such as when Darius recruits his old DC car-jacking buddies to ride into battle against the corrupt militia, leading to the 'first tank-jacking in history'. Scott Speedman plays a sympathetic Fed; Lola Jackson and Sunny Mabrey are the sexy chicks. There's lots of greal looking cars, cool gadgets, and pumpin' rap-crunk music. Director Lee Tamahori also helmed James Bond's DIE ANOTHER DAY and the 1997 thriller THE EDGE.
