Story:
The story begins with Kimberly a contestant for a post nuclear fallout reality survival show called apocolyse. On her way to the filming location she runs down a deformed looking crazy hillbilly freak and she checks to see if it is ok but soon realises it is her that will be needing the help as another quickly creeps up behind her and the pair of them brutally murder her biting her mouth off and slicing her in half vertically.
Later at the filming location the shows staff and other contestants all just presume that Kimberly has just withdrawn from the show without notice when she doesn't show up and oblivious to her savage murder moments before they cast cameraman and director Micheals girlfriend Mara in as her replacement. Now split into pairs the group are given their briefing by host of the show and retired USMC Colonel Dale Murphy the group are told that they are in a radiation filled area and are probably surrounded by crazy radiation fueled carnivores trying to kill and eat them and that any or all of the food they may find could also be contaminated.
The radiation is symbolised by necklaces that they all must wear at all times but if they become infected they have a chance to perform a task to allow them to exchange their contaminated necklace with anyone else in the game eliminating them and allow that player to survive for another day but soon the group start to realise that this area really does hide some dark and sinister secrets and that they really will have to use all their survival skills and fight and not just for survival on the show anymore now their lives may actually depend on it.
Review:
Wrong Turn 2: Dead End is definately not a film for the squeemish as right from the start the audience is thrust into the action with the first of numerous brutal killings just moments into the film before the opening credits have even finished and it doesn't stop there either its a full on gore fest from here on out as the rest of the cast start to drop like flies. The storyline is pretty good but one that you will find pretty easy to predict as this sort of film has been done so many times before but none the less it is still entertaining throughout and the constant in your face gore kinda helps you forget about it.
The special effects throughout are amazingly realistic and believable for both the make up oif the hillbilly crazies down to the explosions of blood as corpses are cut to pieces and people and crazies alike a mutilated. The sound effects are also really good and they make very good use of an eerie soundtrack to set a tense and shocking atmostphere throughout.
My favourite part in the film was a scene in which Colonel Murphy is fighting with the hillbillies father and manages to strap a stick of dynamite to his back with out the hillbilly noticing the fight continues until they eventually make their way outside when the hillbillies father notices moments too late and explodes into a mist of blood.
Overall this is a good film with loads of gore and good performances from all the cast but the storyline could have been better however this is still alot better than the first Wrong Turn and has also been left open ended for a third so if you do enjoy this film then you may have something to look forward to in the future!
