Pirates of the Caribbean at World end is the third movie in the Pirates trilogy. It follows the crew of the Black Pearl (the Pirate ship) rescuing Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' locker and then preparing to fight the East Indian Trading Company who are intent on extinguishing piracy. I'm not going to spoil the rest of the plot/movie for you as I believe you should see it for yourself so I will just now review the rest of the DVD and what I thought of the film/films.
At the box office it was actually the most successful film of 2007 and is the second most successful film in the series. I think even if action and adventure films aren't for you (they aren't my most favourite) this would still be a film you like as it is very funny in places, the sets are brilliant and the action really is very well choreographed. My one complaint with it ...
Advantages: Funny Disadvantages: May be offensive to some people (can't think who though)
Al Murray is an enigma to me. I have a very modern sense of humour and so bar a few things anything before the 1980's seem kinda flat. Especially the kind of comedians Al Murray is reminiscent of. You know the type, racist, sexist, homophobic and cliched jokes about mother in laws and how England beat Germany in the 1966 world cup, I would rather eat sand than watch anything of that sort. And yet I love Al Murray, I think he's hilarious!
I think it's because he knows exactly what he's saying is stupid that's funny for me, it's done in an ironic way, he's sending up the people down the pub who make these kind of jokes and he does it brilliantly. It's like crossing one of those old fashioned comedians with Albert Einstein. He is a very intelligent person, he knows at least some French and German, can ad-lib fantastically and is not ...
Advantages: Moving, shows the good of humans, well acted Disadvantages: Obviously upsetting in parts.
I'm not a fan of movies based on real life events, as I find them a little too uncomfortable to watch, I prefer to watch something a bit more escapist and funny! But when my brother bought the World Trade Centre DVD when we were out shopping last week, I decided it would be worth a watch, and so I settled down last week to watch World Trade Centre, based on the events of 9/11 in 2001.
The film follows the officers of New York City who work in the Port Authority region. When they hear of the first plane hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Centre, they are dispatched to downtown New York to help with the rescue mission, and are led by Officer John McLoughlin (Nicolas Cage). McLoughlin can't order his brigade into the towers as it is a dangerous mission, instead 3 of the men volunteer to accompany him into the tower. Officers ...

Like FATHER TED, combines close observation of a very particular environment with wider cultural references, moments of pure silliness and the ability to make a virtue out of how improbable its plots are (The Daily Telegraph, 29/03/2007)
NAKED GUN meets THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN (The Observer, 29/03/2007)
