Advantages: Philip Glenister as the wonderful Gene Hunt, some funny moments. Disadvantages: Poor casting, trying too hard to be Life On Mars
(Please note: this is a film, or TV only review).
As many of you will possibly be aware, I was - and always will be - a huge fan of the BBC1 drama, 'Life On Mars'. Starring the incomparable John Simm as the confused potential time traveller of Sam Tyler, the juxtaposition between the 21st Century modes of policing and the 1970's damaged regime lead by the fantastic Philip Glenister as the immortal Gene Hunt, the show garnered much critical and commercial success, even earning them the BAFTA voted for by the public.
So, when the writers of Matthew Graham and Ashley Pharoah revealed that they'd be writing a spin off based upon the original format of the first programme, I was intrigued but weary; to me, nothing was going to top the magic that LOM had to offer, especially with the absence of the absurdly talented Mr. Simm but I was ...
history of the ashes
Back in eighteen eighty two a test match series between england and australia started a regular feature for cricket fans. The eighteen eighty two series provided a victory for england, and it was the australian's who got a request granted to play a fourth test match, and whilst they won, it was england who got to keep the famous ern where the ashes are kept. The series is played every two years, though only once every four years back here in England.
this dvd lasts two hours eleven minutes, and it provides a historical platform in terms of cricketing. clips shown of great catches, supreme batting performances, and legendary bowlers of cricket's all time, hall of cricketing fame. The dvd also is interesting to see how world war one and two affected english cricket.

The Allman Brothers are revered but say "Ted Turner and Andy Powell" and people would probably say: "Television guy? Radio One DJ?"
Originally released in April 1972, "Argus" is said to be the crowning moment of the recording career of WishboneAsh. Fans and critics see it as the definitive Ash album yet I bet it hardly ever figures in those "best 100 albums of all time polls" you get when magazines and newspapers need to fill space.
If you've never heard of Ash, they're a bit like Jethro Tull or Yes: prog rock combined with jazz, blues and folk, with quite delicate vocals. In fact the whole sound is quite delicate ...
