I really liked this dvd; I found it easy to learn from and thought that Master Wong was a good teacher. The whole of the dvd is filmed and presented live by Master Wong himself and sometimes also with a student so he can demonstrate what he has been talking about.
The dvd is split into 8 lessons that are designed to be done in order: 1. Basics: basic punches, basic kicks, basic blocks, basic footwork etc. 2. Kicking. 3. Punching. 4. Blocking. 5. Grab and attack. 6. Trapping. 7. Putting it all together. 8. Form demonstration.
Each of these scenes last between 10-20 minutes with Master Wong describing the techniques and then using a student to demonstrate. He performs each move several times to make sure that it is understood.
The form is performed at full speed and then he guides you through it step by step explaining how each move should be done. The dvd also has a section on the applications where Master Wong will demonstrate the purpose of every technique in the form so that it can be easily understood why you perform each move.
The form however is a lot different from most Wing Chun lineages but as there are many branches of Wing Chun all with there own unique system and differences in their forms I didn't find it to be a problem. Master Wong teaches this system with a modern edge and you can see that he is a good martial artist by how he talks and his demonstrations.
The actors in this dvd are all wearing full body armor so all of the techniques and sparring is done with full contact to help you to see how the technique actually works.
The bonus section contains a video of his class and other dvds that he offers.
Overall I thought this dvd was well produced and everything was explained really well. The dvd covers every technique from bong sao, tan sao & pak sao, to the different kicks, how to grab people and attack and the use of trapping and attacking in Wing Chun.
This dvd lasts for about 3 hours and has so much more material than most other instructional dvds as this dvd forms the syllabus which is taught at Master Wongs Academy.
