I am a student studying law at university. I like playing computer games, snooker and listening to all types of music. I am also writing a novel at the moment. And thank you for the reads and ratings; they are gratefully received.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire has been on our TV screens since 1998, and has confirmed itself as one of the most popular and compelling gameshows in history. Before the release of this and the computer games based on the show, we were helplessly shouting at our screens, urging the contestant to pick what we thought was the right answer to the questions. Now thanks to this simulation DVD game, we can now play the game for ourselves in an experience that is about as close as you're going to get to actually sitting opposite host Chris Tarrant than actually appearing on the TV show.
The rules are simple. Answer 15 multiple choice questions correctly in a row to win a cool million pounds. Sounds easy, and you even get 3 lifelines to use along the way (50/50, phone a friend and ask the audience). It's not so easy unfortunately, as the questions get increasingly harder the further up the money ladder you go. At any point you can take the money you have reached, and there are even two milestones (£1,000 and £32,000) which when passed, become the minimum amount of money you'll get, even with an incorrect answer beyond them.
So that's the rules basically explained, what about the DVD version. It is good in that it contains clips of the real studio, and also clips of Chris Tarrant as though he was presenting the show for real, which you don't quite get with the computer game versions. Before each question Chris gives a brief and often humorous explanation of the situation in the game, and the lifelines even uphold this notion. When you decide to ask the audience, a clip is shown of the real audience in the studio voting, followed by the results. Phone a friends are also realistic. You get a choice of 3 chosen 'friends', each with different characteristics, and they'll provide a short answer (or not as the case can sometimes be).
What's more, you don't have to play on your own. In fact, up to 4 players can play their own games and you can all compete against each other to see how far up the money ladder you can go (which has given me ample opportunities to boast of my superior intelligence, or more often, cower at my ineptitude). Whenever I play it, I can never play just one game, no matter how well I do, which adds up to good longevity on the game. A snag with it however is that questions can get repeated all too often, and if you've a good memory, even if you don't know the answer, you can just remember it, which is slightly disappointing. Also, the DVD advertises a chance to win a family holiday to Universal Mediterraenea (which I think is now invalid, so I wouldn't bother going for it), and this is only possible if you win a million pounds.
So to summarise, this DVD game replicates the tension and feel of the TV show with impressive accuracy. Chris Tarrant's presenting is unique (like on the show), and no matter how you play it (whether it be on your own or with others), you are bound to enjoy it. It is also good value for money, at as low as a fiver in certain places, and the quality of the product certainly justifies this price. The soundtrack is the same as that of the show, with the tense and chilling music backgrounds for the questions, that truly recreates the show. Also, it can be surprisingly satisfying when you get answers right that you never in a million years thought you would.
Overall, I would recommend this as a fun and entertaining way of spending some spare time (and you may even learn a thing or two along the way).
