White Chicks, so many contrasting opinions over one film, I warn you now if you do not like silly humour then do not see this film. I was at the cinema one day and was planning on seen another film but at the time I went White Chicks was all that was playing so it was either that or nothing. I had heard in the advert that it was about 2 black guys dressing up as white guys and as most people would do at that description I just thought "what a load of ****".
I think most people have heard of the Wayans brothers, a funny comedy duo who were very famous for the Scary Movie films. They are the main stars in this film and what it's about is that Marcus (Marlon Wayans) and Kevin (Shawn Wayans), are 2 FBI agents. The film starts with them trying to catch a drug mission and arresting those involved but instead they mess it up and embarass themselves.
They are basically 2 failures of FBI agents and can't seem to successfully catch a criminal so then it comes up that the famous Wilson sisters are coming to town and someone has to pic them up from the airport so the 2 agents offer to do this.
The Wilson sisters are socialites, rich girls who anybody wants at their party. So, after mountains of Louis Vuitton cases and dogs have been shoved into the car with Marcus squashed up in the back they get going. The only problem the dog goes flying out the window and is gripping onto the edge for life and while trying to get it back in the car they swerve to avoid a lorry and end up in a miniature crash. Everyone is safe but Brittany & Tiffany Wilson are injured thats right, a scratch on ones face and the others and they are scarred and cannot go to the Hamptons this weekend for the party.
So, the FBI agents decide they can't mess up another case and get the team in to make them white and to become the sisters. The rest of the film is all about them trying to fit in and be ladylike, to be accepted.
The film does sound stupid but I have to say most people I know who have seen it have found it really funny. I was surprised by how funny it was and there are a lot of original jokes in here. The acting you cannot expect to be of Oscar standard but still if we are considering if they were successful actors at being funny then yes I would definitely say that they pulled it off.
This film is a 15 and I do know that the DVD I bought was the uncut version. Some of the uncut parts were really unecessary and the film was better off without them because they went overly crude that it was probably more vukgar and less amusing.
COVER DESIGN ___________ Ths cover is designed nicely, the writing is done in black and white which is appropriate and is bold. On a light blue background the writing really stands out below. Then, you have the two 'White Chicks' holding up their FBI card showing the real them which is clever. They do look pretty convincing as girls on the cover.
EXTRAS _______ 'How'd They Do That'- this is all about how they got them looking like women, what they used how they did it and them talking while doing it. I found this part quite interesting.
The rest of the features were really just talking to the cast and their opinion on the film, why they wanted to do it. There is also the trailer on the special features and a commentary.
The film in total lasts 1hr 50mins.
I would recommend this film to people who liked Scary Movie and a laugh.
