Advantages: Wonderful read, inspiring, helpful, down to earth Disadvantages: Upsetting
I read Elaine Lordan's autobiography WhateverItTakes after finishing Patsy Palmer's, so I couldn't help but compare them. Two actresses, both formerly in EastEnders, both Londoners - in fact, both coming from Anna Scher's theatre school.
Yet, while I found Patsy's book to be a typical cash in, with a strong dollop of drug addiction boredom thrown in, Elaine's was completely different. Even if you are not the slightest bit interested in autobiographies, EastEnders or Elaine herself, this book is really worth reading - and hopefully I'll explain why in this review.
WhateverItTakes is quite different to other autobiographies in general. You get some idea of this by looking at the cover. Elaine looks normal in the photos, not all dolled up to the nines with an inch of slap on, just a normal woman wearing jeans. Under the book ...
Advantages: Funny, will make you laugh out loud Disadvantages: None I can think of
I am quite a fan of the Little Black Dress series of books, so I decided to have a browse on Amazon for ones which sounded like a good read. I came across this one after a while, and it had rave reviews. Also, on a book forum I am a member of, they couldn't recommend it highly enough to me so I decided I would have to get it to have a go. And as usual, the book didn't disappoint!
"She'll TakeIt" tells us the story of Melanie Zeitgar, a woman living in New York City with dreams of becoming a world famous actress. But Melanie has a downfall...she has a penchant for stealing things. Not enormously expensive items you understand, just the odd sweater from Barneys or the odd pillow from the Homewares shop. But Melanie can't stop, even when a man comes into her life whose job in life is to help shops detect thieves. Will he suss out ...
Advantages: Excellent story-line, superb acting by Lee Marvin. Disadvantages: Weaker characterization of Clay Boone.
movie. Famous feminist, writer and actress Jane Fonda played the title character of Catherine Ballou in this movie. She started acting on mainstream feature films in the early in 1960's. Though she was not received positively for her acting and mostly criticized by film-critics and audience. But, she rose to fame and widely recognized as a talented actress for her role as ?Cat Ballou?.
Cat Ballou is a soft, polite and educated young woman who wants to be a school teacher. She is traditional, beautiful and also thoughtful .Jane Fonda portrayed the character of Cat Ballou magnificently. She put a lot of effort and dedication in her acting. She is charming, seductive and very lovable in her character. After her father?s death, she gathers a team to take revenge. It was not an easy job for her. DVD Description
Loosely based on CYRANO DE BERGERAC, WHATEVER IT TAKES is a charming romantic comedy set in modern day high school. The film tells the tale of an uncool teenager, Ryan (Shane West), and a popular jock, Chris (James Franco), who team up to win the hearts of their dream girls (Marla Sokoloff and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe). Along the way, an endless barrage of comic situations adds flavor to the proceedings."
