I feel totally embarrassed now. The embarrassing thing that's just happened... I've just searched the whole of the internet as I had thought I had already reviewed this film only to then afterwards find out that I'm confusing this film with the film "How to Lose a Guy in 10 days" they are so similar and so the same, anyone would think they are both in a series.
I have actually watched this film twice! Well first time I went to see it at the cinemas with my whole family and my friend's family. It was raining in the middle of may 2007 and so we decided to keep dry by going to the cinema, it was a choice between "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and this film, so I chose this one as I think it would have been more suitable, also, without realising it, "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is a 15 and therefore my brother wouldn't be able to get in as he was 12 then.
the director of this film is Tom Vaughan, he is not only a film director but also a Scottish TV director, however he is not famously known, however the 2 films he has directed I have heard of, he has directed this on (obviously) and "You Starter For 10" which looks really good and in which I will endeavour into watching and buying when I have both the time and a priority to get more DVDs as I have tons of DVDs I have not watched yet! He will direct a new upcoming film called "Crowley" Though it doesn't give much away by the title, and I'd have to find out a lot more information to make up my mind if I should watch it or not.
The cast list is shown below (not including the minor roles): Ashton Kutcher as Jack Fuller (Jr.) Cameron
Diaz as Joy McNally/Joy Fuller Lake Bell as Toni "Tipper" Saxson Dennis Farina as Richard "Dick" Banger Dennis Miller as Judge Whopper Jason Sudeikis as Mason Michelle Krusiec as Chong Queen Latifah as Dr. Twitchell
Ashton Kutcher plays Jack Fuller. I have to admit I dislike Ashton Kutcher. I don't specifically know why, it could do with the fact that he's not a good actor, but then again he is a good actor in other films. I haven't seen him in any other films or TV shows as far as I'm aware of so my opinion of him is purely based on his role in this film. Now if I complied to what I've just said about my thoughts on him in this film, then he would automatically become one of my favourite actors, however I cannot imagine him playing someone who is quite the opposite such as a geek or a nerd, he just would blatantly refused to do such a thing. However he might or might not grow on me, but I very much doubt that he'll be one of my favourites, it could happen but I very much doubt it
Cameron Diaz plays Joy McNally/Fuller. Oh My God. Oh My God. Oh My God. Oh My God. Oh My God. You could easily say she was the main reason I went to see this film. She IS one of my favourite actors ever, if I had to order my favourites she'll definitely in my top 5, or shall I say top 3. She just fits into her character and automatically become that character. Every single film I've watched that stars her always mesmerises me because she does a great job of being that character and it fits her wonderfully. Now, I know what you're saying, and that is about the fact that I said that I couldn't imagine Ashton to play someone totally opposite. But surely you can agree with me on Cameron Diaz and say she definitely can play who the hell she wants as she would just make that character. And if you don't agree with me, think about her being Natalie in Charlie's Angels, and then think to the film "The Holiday", or even "There's Something About Mary", both of her characters in all 3 films are pretty much different and therefore shows the flexibility of her skills of being an actress. I would pick up any DVD in HMV that had her starring in the film, even as a minor character, I'd still watch the film!
Now I know that Queen Latifah does not have one of the major roles, but she does appear in it quite a bit. Now I had never heard of her until I had watched "Hairspray", I bet you anything you are shocked? Well after that film I endeavoured to watch many others she appears in and therefore she has become one of my favourite actresses alongside Cameron Diaz. I may also like to say that she has one magnificent voice on her and if she ever returned to music she would get further than she did before! She is a brilliant actress and fits into each role quite differently, maybe, at times she is not included in a film as such, like, for example, Hairspray, but she became that character wonderfully you wouldn't have noticed she was this other person in so and so film, if you know what I mean.
The film is about 2 people, who aren't enjoying their lives where they happen to live, so they both decide to go to Vegas (only they don't know each other yet) until they both get booked into the same room at a hotel. And then everything becomes linked from there, and they get totally drunk, only to wake up the next morning to find out they are married. So they decide to have a divorce, while discussing this they are playing on the slots machines. Then Joy puts a "quarter" into the slot machine but forgets to pull the lever down, and walks a way in a mood, but while she's walking away Jack pulls the lever down and Joy hears a ringing noise. They had just won the jack pot, but they're married "what's yours is mine" goes without saying. Now they both want the money to themselves and if playing mean and dirty to get the money, is what it takes then that's how they'll play! Who will get the money?
Now people would think that this is a romance film due to the start of the film, only to be surprised half way through with the constant comedy and endless laughing from everyone. I'm pretty sure I fell off the seat at least 5 times as I was laughing so much!
I loved this film and that is why I've rated it 5 stars, it is well worth watching and the comedy is like non stop! I could say that I'm not particularly happy with the rating; it should really be a 15 as there is a lot of language but mainly sex references. I think they should really crack down on the certification scheme because some films easily encourages younger people to have sex, such as that 13 year old boy who is a father. I would blame it on films, but then again I have watched a lot of films!
I'm sorry everyone but there happens to be only 1 special feature which is: "Six Deleted Scenes", I have not watched this feature and therefore can not tell you if it is good or not, but I presume it is good but not as good as the film due to the fact that the scenes have been deleted and been cut out of the film.
Overall this film is a must-watch for everyone and I hope I have encouraged you to go out and get it the next time you have the chance. I'm pretty sure you can get it for one of the 4 for £20 offers in HMV, so I suggest you try and stock up while the offers are still on, that's what we've done. I hope I have influenced you to get this and I'll be very grateful for all your rates and comments. Thank you soooooooo much for reading!
