Spaghetti Western Heaven
Advantages: All together in a collection, Clint eastwood, the Music, DVD features Disadvantages: none
This special collection has got to be the best Western colection around. Even if you are not a Western fan particularly, the atmosphere will have you reeled in straight away. A Fistful of Dollars features, of course, the Man With No Name (i.e. Clint) arriving into the dusty town to find two rival gangs at war, the Baxters and the Rojos. Clint cleverly plays them both off against each other. There are great gun battles and some dry humour too from ... ...show downs with close ups of the eyes and mouths of the shooters, not to mention the amazing music. For A Few Dollars More is the sequel, featuring our Clint as a bounty hunter teaming up with another guy in the same line of work, Van Cleef. Both are after the outlaw El Indio, and after pursuing him each alone, stumble upon eachother staking out the El Indio's gang and after a cool moment of sizing eachother up decide to go into league to catch the ...

For a night of epic gun-slinging
Advantages: Two brilliant films in on set, for a reasonable price Disadvantages: The hours you'll find devoting to learing lines and catchphrases
...The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a film full of well known lines and scene that keeps you on the edge of your seat, followed up by Hang 'em High and you can't go wrong.
The most attractive thing about this set for me was the fact that each film is on a seperate disc. For some reason it double sided disks irritate me, and when it comes to such epic films as these, i feel that each deserved their own disc.
When watching theses great films you wont ... ...your own hat, cheering for the bad and better guys.
This is Clint in his well known form of tough hero, who everyone loves, despite the times where you think he'll do the wrong thing, and even when he does you can't help but cheer him on in all his squinty glory! ...

A Decent Western!
Advantages: Good acting, great music, No John Wayne! Disadvantages: Still a western!
...of sitting there flicking through the TV channels trying to find something decent to watch as he was driving me mad. To my horror this is the film which he chose. The film is about a Mexican town which is under threat from a man called Calvera, played by Eli Wallach, and his gang. They have said that they will be coming to take all of the harvest and money from the town. The towns people discuss whether they should fight the gang or move away to ... ...different town where some of the people are trying to get an Indian buried but a lot of the men of the town are against this so 2 strangers come together and ride the hurse to the grave yard and bury the Indian themselves. The one man is called Chris Adams and he strikes up a sort of friendship with the other man. The three men from the threatened village turn up and meet Chris Adams, played by Brynner, and ask him if he will get them some guns but ...

A story of retribution, murder and forgiveness?
Advantages: It's Lee Van Cleef! Disadvantages: Not the best DVD quality
...incidentally was heavily influenced by Death Rides a Horse).
I liked the use of guitar in this and the Indian chanting used in the soundtrack. Also the music when Bill goes head to head with 'Four Aces' was fantastic when he tells the piano player to hit three notes and it gives a 'dunn' (hard to describe) but it sounds good and builds up the tension.
Not Morricone most memorable music, but still good none the less

Who shot what in the where now?
Advantages: A true classic of the genre. Disadvantages: May suffer from old prejudices against westerns but not if given a chance
...nine or ten and at the time thinking this was a really good movie. I can remember finding it really funny at times and my dad telling me to sit down and watch it cause it was one of the best and having to agree. I hadn't caught it on television since then and had begun to wonder over time whether it was as good as I remembered. So having begun watching old westerns again with a friend of mine at college, I was poking around the western section in ... ...They made it plain from the outset that they did not like westerns, hated watching Black and white films in general and had never had liked John Wayne. They were sure that they would be leaving after half an hour and I was sure they would too. I made them promise then that they wouldn't be talking through it if they didn't like it and they respected this and we began to watch. It was pretty much as I remembered it, except I could now appreciate the ...
