John Fords film journeys deep into the heart of Ethan Edwards darkness. He emerges from a personally unconceded war and a couple of years of highly questionable wanderings into a settled family home and a community thats moved on.
Throughout the film there are resonances from a shared and sometimes secret past. Most poignantly the hopeless, impossible love ...

Advantages: excellant viewing for a reasonable price Disadvantages: none
This is well worth the watch. Found plenty action in this film and a few twists along the way which gave you plenty to keep your interest. The plot is portrayed very well. Advantages: See how Westerns should be made Disadvantages: None at all
El Dorado will appeal to all types - those who like action and gung-ho shooting, to those who like romance and drama. Thornton then goes in search of another job and teams up with a knife-throwing kid and together, with the help of a drunk sheriff (Mitchum) and another trusty cowboy pit themselves against Bart Jason and his gang who are up to no good. An excellent plot and extremely well executed with some good rootin'-tootin' shootin' alongside ...

...nine or ten and at the time thinking this was a really good movie. I can remember finding it really funny at times and my dad telling me to sit down and watch it cause it was one of the best and having to agree. I hadn't caught it on television since then and had begun to wonder over time whether it was as good as I remembered. So having begun watching old westerns again with a friend of mine at college, I was poking around the western section in ... ...They made it plain from the outset that they did not like westerns, hated watching Black and white films in general and had never had liked John Wayne. They were sure that they would be leaving after half an hour and I was sure they would too. I made them promise then that they wouldn't be talking through it if they didn't like it and they respected this and we began to watch. It was pretty much as I remembered it, except I could now appreciate the ...
