Advantages: amazing acting and storyline, gorgeous scenery and music
Disadvantages: May be too long for some

...battle and the scary looking dances they did around their fires but this was their way of life so I had to accept it. The main Indians which we saw were Holy man and the white woman who was raised by the Indians. They gave excellent performance sand really moved me at times. The one draw back to the Indians was that they spoke in their native language and we had the subtitles turned off at first so was unable to fully understand what they were saying ...
...I thought they all played their roles genuinely and looked the part and the costumes and clothes which they wore made them look like true Sioux Indians. The storyline was great and I loved how they portrayed a soldier from the normal and did not have him attacking and hating the Indians and how they made him want to live comfortably with them and learn about their ways. Dunbar, not Dumb Bear!

Advantages: Fantastic visuals, Costner
Disadvantages: Can draw it out too long in places

Costner's best Dance

Advantages: stunning cinematography
Disadvantages: on a long time

The special edition box set, is well presented and stylish, and has many more features hence the the 3rd disc, including a making of feature, music scores to the film and a gallery of photo stills from the film. It portrays a lieutenant (Kevin Costner) caught up in the American civil war, who is tired of fighting and wants to see the American frontier before its gone. He dices with death taunting the enemy grey coats to shoot him to end his anguish ...
...an act of courage and he is given an assignment of his choosing. Of course, he ends up in a remote fort on the frontier and meets the local Native American Sioux tribe who are his only neighbours. There are several funny moments when he tries to communicate with the Sioux, who he befriends, and falls in love with a white woman raised by the tribe. An epic tale of the American West

Advantages: interesting story
Disadvantages: the love story part

WHAT IS IT ABOUT: Kevin Costner stars as Lt John Dunbar, a hero of the American Civil War who travels to his new post on the Western frontier. At first an emotionless, up tight soldier, things soon change as he begins to interact with a tribe of Sioux Indians, causing him to re-evaluate his loyalties. Ironically, Dunbar in the first hour is a very unlikable guy - a nerd, a workaholic, a goody goody who can't relax or have fun, and although this is used to show the extent of his later changes, it's funny to quite dislike the hero of a film for the first half. The movie was trying to be profound and I don't think it quite reached that - Costner's soundbite narration over the top is often naïve ...

Some say he's dead...some say he never will be

Advantages: Great acting, scenery
Disadvantages: None I can think of
