The result of this is crimson blood gushing out and saturating his shirt. The gunfights may be a tad graphic but I believe it is in keeping with the whole intension of the film in creating a mature, gritty, realistic, authentic Western. Advantages: old American west as seen through the eyes of a mountain man
Disadvantages: values of that world are not the same as today

The west as we have never seen it before dominates this movie. How a simple man survives in a wilderness through heartache and lonliness. Every item he uses is not wasted in case there might not be another one along shortly. The world is based on a limited knowledge of literature and study and mainly from the bible. Advantages: The more times you watch it the better it gets

Breakheart pass

Advantages: Good Adaptation of a MacLean novel
Disadvantages: Film a bit grainy

This MGM production of 1975, is a good 70s western, that differs from the rival spaghetti westerns of the time, in that it doesn't focus on gufighters or shoot outs. Based on the novel of the same name by Alistair MacLean, the storyline in the main stays close to the original, not suprising in that the author also wrote the screen play for the film. Some say he's dead...some say he never will be

Advantages: Great acting, scenery
