Review of The Magnificent Seven (DVD)

They just don't make them like they used to

Advantages: Riveting, four main stars, the score, the direction, where shall I stop?
Disadvantages: None for me, although it's long and slow, which may not be your cup of tea

A John Wayne classic.

Advantages: It is a classic. Perfect Sunday afternoon film.
Disadvantages: Hard to believe that this was made nearly 50 years agao.

A Western without John Wayne!

Advantages: good story, good acting
Disadvantages: None from me and hubby

Breakheart pass

Advantages: Good Adaptation of a MacLean novel
Disadvantages: Film a bit grainy

This MGM production of 1975, is a good 70s western, that differs from the rival spaghetti westerns of the time, in that it doesn't focus on gufighters or shoot outs. Based on the novel of the same name by Alistair MacLean, the storyline in the main stays close to the original, not suprising in that the author also wrote the screen play for the film.
