Review of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"
Review of The Good Bad And The Ugly DVD by blackhawk1984

Advantages: Fine performances; and storyline
Disadvantages: None

It is definitely one of the best movies, I have ever seen. With the american civil war as the background, three bounty killers set out to take into their possession, a large sum of money which was buried in a grave by a dead soldier. Circumstances bring them together and they strike an agreement as Clint Eastwood alone knows where the money is. Clint Eastwood is instrumental in his performance. There are many power packed dialogues, which linger ...
...several funny imprecations. The background music has become history. The scene where Clint Eastwood blows a bridge is dealt with beautifully. There are some funny instances where Clint Eastwood becomes a prisoner of the Union forces for appearing in a confederate uniform. The movie is full of surprises. All in all a great movie to watch. ... Read review

The Good Bad And The Ugly review
Review of The Good Bad And The Ugly (Wide Screen) by petery36

Advantages: Good Length, Very exciting, great soundtrack
Disadvantages: Quite old fashioned for younger viewers, violent

Clint Eastwood (Blondie) stars as the 'Good' in this thrilling Western adventure that certainly doesn't fail to impress. The movie is 177 minutes long and every second is unmissable right from the very first scene. The movie is set during the American civil war and this does certainly play a part in the running of the film. Lee Van Cleef (Angel Eyes) is the 'Bad' and certainitely lives up to this role as he commits both murder and torture during ...
...methods do justify this name. The movie itself takes place in the schorching heat and this has some role to play in how the characters act towards each other. The movie is thrilling and the ending is certainly worth waiting for as the suspense is truly brilliant. Definitely worth a watch, you won't be dissapointed. ... Read review

Peckinpah's brutal vision sees the light of day
Review of Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid (Special Edition) by martyn73

Advantages: see the film the way it was meant to be seen
Disadvantages: none

...look at the legend of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Released in this new form it adds extra scenes which give more character study although in places it does seem like there are still parts missing. Nevertheless it is a beautifully shot film which due to the subject matter has a sense of inevitable doom about it. The violence that is so much a part of Peckinpah's films is here in its full glory serving to show the true brutality of the Old West. ... Read review

Do hero's really wear white hats?
Review of High Plains Drifter DVD by Blackcat01

Advantages: The perfect western
Disadvantages: none

High Plains Drifter is a classic western. It has a strong lead character who is the classic gunfighter, cold, emotionless and completely ruthless. It also has a strong supporting cast who again play the classic western towns people, scared, self promoting, submissive and equally ruthless in a passive way, all the classic ingredients. So why is this western so very different to anything else that came before it and after it? In the old days, westerns ...
...used to great effect with High Plains Drifter, however, he took it a stage further and made the audience enter nthe movie in a way unseen before. He made us think about the characters and make our own opinions about them, never more so than with his main character, the stranger, it was as though you were a person living in the town of Lago and like the townsfolk, you knew nothing about the stranger who came to the town other than what you saw.
