fast moving, thrilling and shocking film which shows why Lang deserves his position as one of cinema's greats. When former outlaw Vance Shaw (Randolph Scott) goes straight and is hired by a telegraph company to protect the line from the Sioux, he finds himself competing with surveyor Richard Blake (Robert Young) for the attentions of the boss' sister (Virginia Gilmore). However, he soon discovers that his outlaw brother Jack Slade (Barton MacLane) is trying to prevent the company from connecting the line between Omaha and Salt Lake City. ...impossible to look out over Ljubljana without catching a glimpse of the gorgeous castle perched prominently on the hill. The Ljubljanica River flows elegantly down through the city, passing the cobbled streets and many cafes and restaurants. During my time in Slovenia I stayed at the beautiful, elegant Grand Union Hotel. I believe that my holiday was made a lot better due to my stay at the hotel.
***GRAND UNION HOTEL***
The Grand Union Hotel is a four start hotel situated in the centre of Slovenia. The hotel is split into two parts the business part and executive part. There are over 300 rooms in total so it is fairly small and quiet. I was never kept up by late night parties or noisy neighbours. We stayed at the hotel on its 100 year anniversary in 2005 and were very impressed with the service we received. Famous people such as Bill Clinton...

Advantages: Extremely educational and entertaining Disadvantages: WW1 at times grim and depressing
...This item was originally sold for £9.99, but Amazon prices it at £5.97. The DVD is a single disk containing the film, no extra features which is a little disappointing.

I'm doing lots of World War 1 literature for my English A-level.
But among all the videos, poems, biographies, and documentaries, this is one of my favourites. 'All Quiet on the Western Front' first grabbed my attention because it sounds so poetic, so familiar. However the deepest irony is that the front was never quiet, constantly bashed into craters by heavy shell-fire.
Before this DVD (a 1979 remake of the classic black and white film) I had no idea what the trenches were really like. What is somewhat unique is that this story is seen from the German perspective. What is heartwarming and depressing is that it is very much like our own story...

Advantages: Good acting, great music, No John Wayne! Disadvantages: Still a western!
...the actors bought it to the screen was good. The setting for the film was on the Mexican border which is how they got away with half of the characters having American accents. There are some parts at the beginning of the film where they do speak in their own language but we do get subtitles at the bottom of the screen so can easily follow this and this only happens a few times. The scenery and settings were all very good and I did notice some nice vies of the desert and mountains when they were riding out on their horses which made the film slightly more enjoyable for me.
The music was typical of a western and I do give a lot of praise for Elmer Bernstein who wrote all of the music as it was good and fitted in with the film extremely well.
The DVD which we have is the special edition version which does have lots of bonus features which...
