a tragic battle and excellent movie Advantages: all star cast historical realism Disadvantages: an epic I am a a big fan of war movies and I can claim I have seen the vast majority of them, so it is no small claim when i say this is my favourite. The reasons for this are plentiful, mostly because it is very accurate in historical terms and this is due in large part to the amount of research by Richard Attenborough. During filming they consulted with veterans of the actual battle, immensely adding to the credability of the film. Further to this the ... ...is very refreshing to see a war movie that dares to cover a battle such as this where the Allies do not win (and in fact it is probably the greatest mistake of Montgomery's career) and a great resounding victory is not the central theme of the picture. An excellent movie if you like war films in the slightest you will enjoy this and if you like epics you'll be in love. My reccomendation watch this film. A hidden gem of the war film world Advantages: Plot, acting and keeps you watching Disadvantages: Confusing if you're not up on war history Force 10 From Navarone is based on the book of the same name by author Alistair MacLean as is the sequel to The Guns of Navarone, the immensely popular film starring Gregory Peck and David Niven. Force 10 was released in 1978, and features some famous names and a powerful script cast onto the screen. The film didn't do as well as it should have, but is still a quality film. The Battle Of Britain Advantages: A good five star film Disadvantages: none The Battle Of Britain is an absolute wartime classic. Even to this day, it acting, music, special effects and story are unbeaten. The film starts in France. The British are retreating to Dunkirk and a RAF tempory base is evacuated as the German offensive continues. Meanwhile, Sir Hugh Dowding (head of the RAF) advices Churchill that no more RAF forces should be sent to France as it would weaken the home defenses. With Germany in control of France ... ...for the film of the battle of Britain is extremely well done. The story follows Sir Hugh Dowding and his struggle to maintain the RAF, the Blitz and several RAF personal who are bearing the brunt of the attacks of the Luftwaffe. But even though the story observes several characters, it still remains faithful to the facts and truly gives some idea of what the actual Battle of Britain was like. Action Transvestites Advantages: Good mix of humour, drama and action, plus Eddie Izzard Disadvantages: "War film" tag might put people off ...sex with bees". All in all, a gripping story based on some reality which manages to mix action, explosions, love affairs, friendship, humour and men in dresses.
