Many who know nothing about the Japanese culture of Bushido and their ideas about honour will struggle to understand many of the things the Japanese soldiers do in this film. ...their culture does not promote giving your life, it promotes the idea that you live to fight another day. The Japanese soldiers of that time would also struggle to understand this concept, it would be as equally alien to them as the ideas behind Bushido were to the West. Review of Letters From Iwo Jima (DVD)

Fantastic move, Blu-ray is the icing on the cake

Advantages: blu-ray, awesome action, compelling story
Disadvantages: a pretty old film

This is a fantastic movie, period. It combines war stories of true american heroes with some of the best action sequences to make a truly magnificent film. It was written through reading the Memos of one of the main characters, so this is one of the more accurate war movies of our time. The Blu-ray aspect truly does add the edge to this already brilliant movie, and although blu-ray players are expensive...after watching a movie like this on a blu-ray ...

The Other Fighters

Advantages: Great script, historically accurate, outstanding acting by cast members
Disadvantages: Some scenes seem quite repetitive

Studying the reasons for Algerian independence for my history coursework, and hoping to study French and Arabic and University, this film really was great. Saints and Soliders - its not very good frankly.

Advantages: Good picture
Disadvantages: Too many to list.

...pretty good film. Apparently not. Saints and Soldiers is long and boring from start til end. The only highlight, for me anyway, was the appearance of a downed bomber airman. A brit, who was typically posh and irritating (as we always are in American films). That was about it. Mostly otherwise the story was dull, the acting was poor and the film went on for far too long. The only good thing was the scenery and picture quality. Which was top notch, ...
...The extra features were minimal. The usual commentaries and trailers and that is about it really. Barely worth a look. Probably because they knew you wouldn’t enjoy the film and thus wouldn’t want to watch the extras afterwards (or listen to the commentary!). One of the best films ever, must buy!

Advantages: Great story, amazing acting, superb film
Disadvantages: None

Ever since seeing this film i have been dying to own this film and its finally on dvd. A modern classic of a film and such a typical Tarintino film. From the opening scene this movie has you engrossed and the two and a half hours it lasts for fly past.
