The IncredibleHulk
Stuck for something to watch over the week-end, we finally decided upon the IncredibleHulk, which is currently showing on Sky Anytime. Initially, me daughter wasn?t interested as she saw it as a ?boy? film, but when I explained about watching the television series whilst growing up, she decided to give it a go.
What?s it all about?
Well, this is a big budget superhero type film, reminiscent of the 1970?s tv series starring Bill Bixby. It tells the story of Dr. David Banner (Edward Norton) who is basically an experiment gone wrong. After being subjected to gamma rays, he has a reaction that turns him into a super strong green monster with super human strength and power. Whilst he thought the experiment was to further research that would help soldiers, the experiments were in fact designed to ...
Advantages: Norton's performance, in fact the film is brilliant Disadvantages: Nothing springs to mind
Rob Roy) and seems so suited to the evil parts! He plays Bronsky for what he is; power hungry and will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
And to our hero of the hour; Bruce Banner. I was a bit unsure that Norton would be able to pull off such a role. The popularity of the series when I was a child would be enough to scare some actors, but Norton has really taken it in his stride. He plays Banner the way he really is, a peace loving doctor who just wants to be left alone, but hounded by the military.
*** Final Word***
Do I recommend this? A whole hearted YES! It is so much better than the first film. (There is even a cameo role as a security guard for the first Hulk, Louis Ferrigno). I thoroughly enjoyed the film and will certainly be getting the DVD. It has to be one of the best films I have watched this year ...
Advantages: Real actor playing the Hulk, good story, good acting Disadvantages: Bad effects, dated!
putting but then on the other hand it did give the story a different side and showed that David still does want a normal life where he does not have to keep moving on.
The effects in the film were so dated but this film was made in 1990 so these can be forgiven. I did find the late 80?s fashion very funny indeed to see and the technology which was in the high-tech lab was laughable to see! The Hulk was played by a proper actor which made the film even better for me and hubby as the new computer enhanced one looks so fake and unrealistic. We are definitely not going to be seeing the new films.
The music was not very memorable in the film but I do remember thinking that t was all suitable for the parts in which it was used.
There are no bonus features of the DVD which we have. The running time of this film is only 90 minutes and I ...
