I took my 6 year old cousin to see this at the cinema but that was really just an excuse for me to go & see it as I love Pixar movies, especially The Incredibles. Pixar is part of Disney, in 2004 Disney bought Pixar for around $7.4 billion! Pixar have created a number of memorable, entertaining kids films such as; Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, A Bugs Life, Toy Story & Monsters INC to name but a few.
Wall-E is Pixar's 9th feature film, they have created numerous short films using characters from their feature films like Jack Jack from The Incredibles. These have also been very successful & extremely well received.
Wall-E took $180,000,000 to make & grossed around $521,806,999 which in anybodies book is a huge profit! It won the 2009 golden globe for Best Animated film.
Wall-E is set way in the future, the 22nd century to be exact. Earth has pretty much been destroyed by all the waste & humans have gone to live on another planet. Wall-E is a machine built to clean up the Earth, however he is the only one that still functions properly & over the years has developed his own personality. Wall-E stands for waste allocation load lifter, Earth class. Wall-E loves his job & over time he has collected lots of things to bring home with him like video players where he watches the same film every night, he also has parts to repair himself & of course a lift bulb so he can see at night! Although Wall-E loves his job he is lonely & longs for a friend. This is where EVE comes in. EVE stands for Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator. She has been sent down to Earth as the humans have heard that the Earth might be fertile again therefore the humans can move back. EVE freaks when she sees Wall-E but Wall-E just wants to be her friend & eventually takes her back to his place to show her around.
Eventually EVE must return back to the humans to report back on what she found on Earth but Wall-E doesn't want her to go so he grabs hold of her spaceship & tags along with her to the other planet.
Wall-E is the charming story of a robot who just wants a friend & finds it in the form of EVE. Wall-E also becomes an unsuspecting hero in this extremely entertaining film.
Wall-E can be enjoyed by anyone o any age despite it being aimed at young children, my 6 year old cousin loved it & I equally enjoyed it. There is simply no downside to this film, it's simply fantastic & I would recommend it to any fan of the other Pixar films or simply any fan of Disney as this is the best Disney film I've seen in a long time. It also manages to get across a very important message about recycling & conserving energy which is done in such a great way that it doesn't come across as patronising.
