I know that WWF/WWE wrestling isn't everyone's cup of tea but, as a long time wrestling fan i think Wrestlemania X-7 encompasses everything about modern wrestling that makes it such great entertainment. This 2-disc DVD offers a great reason to get into wrestling.
If it's action that your after then this DVD offers 12 matches (11 official matches & 1 bonus pre-event match) all of which are good quality. They range from the hardcore ... ...Big Show & Raven to the technical master-class between Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit.
One of the highlights of the DVD is the TLC match which features more Tables, Ladders & Chairs than any fan could possibly wish for. The event also has a woman's title match, the father v son match between Vince & Shane McMahon, a gimmick battle royal with 20 old-time favourites including the bushwhackers & a main event of Steve Austin v The Rock which ... more
I know that WWF/WWE wrestling isn't everyone's cup of tea but, as a long time wrestling fan i think Wrestlemania X-7 encompasses everything about modern wrestling that makes it such great entertainment. This 2-disc DVD offers a great reason to get into wrestling.
If it's action that your after then this DVD offers 12 matches (11 official matches & 1 bonus pre-event match) all of which are good quality. They range from the hardcore brawling of the triple threat hardcore title match between Kane, Big Show & Raven to the technical master-class between Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit.
One of the highlights of the DVD is the TLC match which features more Tables, Ladders & Chairs than any fan could possibly wish for. The event also has a woman's title match, the father v son match between Vince & Shane McMahon, a gimmick battle royal with 20 old-time favourites including the bushwhackers & a main event of Steve Austin v The Rock which is amazing.
The DVD extra's are lacking somewhat in comparison with the actual action. There are flashbacks based around the stories behind the matches on both discs (three on Disc 1 & two on Disc 2) all of which are good if your intrested in why these matches are occurring, i particularly recommend the Austin v The Rock one on Disc two.
On both discs there is also a section called 'Extra stuff'. Here there are interviews, the bonus match, some promotional footage, a highlights video & a short video showing the fallout of the event the following night. I personally find these extras slightly lacking but they are good for both the first timer & wrestling fans alike.
The design of the casing is attractive enough to promote the DVD but i think it doesn't do enough to show how good this DVD really is. With a crowd of 67,925 & some of the best action & storylines around this event is well worth the money & comes highly recommended to both newcomers & long time fans.
Advantages: Overall, this event is one of the best wrestling events since the turn of the century and is regarded as one of the best Wrestlemanias ever, and is splendid with DVD quality and extras. Disadvantages: Many people simply do not get the WWE/WWF, and this DVD is unlikely to change their attitudes as it is a classic WWE/WWF event.
Wrestlemania, the now WWE's premier event is always spectacular, but this event raises the bar for sports entertainment.
Marking the beginning of a new era in professional wrestling, this event coincided with the WWE purchase of long time rivals WCW, and if the following years after delivered quality anywhere as near as close to this, I am sure the WWE wouldn't be in the mess they are in now.
Wrestlemania 17 has an excellent, all round card: -
... ...match, what you would expect in the Wrestlemania main event and far surpasses their meeting at Wrestlemania 15.
Undertaker vs. Triple H - perhaps the show stealer, as the two battle all around the arena in a highly entertaining match
Dudley Boyz vs. Hardy Boyz vs. Edge and Christian - this match marked the end of an era for these three teams as they went their sperate ways after this match. This match lacks originality perhaps after the first TLC ...

Advantages: Great event, good extras & the usual high WWE production qualities. Disadvantages: It's quite hard to find this event now as it has been deleted.
...The main event is a WWF Championship match against World Champion The Rock & Stone Cold Steve Austin. Probably the greatest WM main event ever capped off with a stunning twist at the end.
Extras on the DVD include and extra match from Sunday Night Heat - Steve Blackman & Grand Master Sexay v X-Pac & Justin Credible & also has highlights of the Wrestlemania aftermath on the next nights RAW. Overall an excellent DVD which is well worth tracking down. ...
