Continuing the tradition of Wrestlemania was WWF Wrestlemania 6, held at the Toronto Skydome on 1st April 1990 in front of 67,000 fans. The main event for this one was WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan against WWF Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior in a title for title match. Also included at Wrestlemania 6 was The Rockers vs The Orient Express, The Hart Foundation vs The Bolsheviks, Brutus The Barber Beefcake vs Mr Perfect, Hurcules vs Earthquake, Demolition vs Andre the Giant & Haku and Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Bad News Brown. A few more matches are included in this overall good event.
On 24th March 1991, Wrestlemania 7 was held in the Los Angeles Sports Arena. The main event put WWF Champion Sgt Slaughter against Hulk Hogan for the title. Also includes Macho King Randy Savage vs The Ultimate Warrior in a career ending match, Mr Perfect vs British Bulldog for the Intercontinental Championship, The Hart Foundation vs The Nasty Boys for the Tag Team Championship, Virgil vs Ted Dibiase and Jake The Snake Roberts vs Rick The Model Martel in a blindfold match. This was also The Undertaker’s first Wrestlemania as he faced Superfly Jimmy Snuka.
The following year, on 5th April 1992, WWF presented one of the best Wrestlemania events in it’s history as Wrestlemania 8 was held in the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis. This one had a double Main Event. The first was for the WWF World Championship as Ric Flair defended the title against Macho Man Randy Savage. The second was Hulk Hogan against Sid Justice in what was supposed to be Hogan’s last WWF match. Other matches include Bret Hitman Hart vs Rowdy Roddy Piper for the Intercontinental Title, Money Inc vs The Natural Disasters for the Tag Team Titles, Shawn Michaels vs Tito Santana, and The Undertaker vs Jake The Snake Roberts. This Wrestlemania also featured the return of both The Ultimate Warrior and The Legion Of Doom.
Wrestlemania 9 was another bad show. This one also had a double Main Event. In the first WWF Tag Team Champions Money Inc defended the titles against The Mega Maniacs, a team consisting of Brutus Beefcake and Hulk Hogan. The Other was WWF World Champion Bret Hitman Hart against Yokozuna for the championship. Somehow though, Hogan walked out of this event as the World Champion. Anyway, other matches include Shawn Michaels vs Tatanka for the Intercontinental Title, Bob Backlund vs Razor Ramon, Lex Luger vs Mr Perfect, Doink vs Crush and The Undertaker vs the useless Giant Gonzales.
The 10th Anniversary Wrestlemania was an improvement, boasting 2 WWF World Title. The first was Lex Luger vs Yokozuna for the title and the winner would face Bret Hitman Hart for the title in the last match.Other matches include, Macho Man Randy Savage vs Crush in a falls count anywhere match, Bret Hart vs Owen Hart in a superb match and Bam Bam Bigelow and Luna vs Doink and Dink. But the match that stole the whole show was the ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon. This was an amazing match. Also featured was the return of both Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mr Perfect.
Lastly Wrestlemania 11. This featured, in my opinion, only one good match. That was the Main Event WWF World Title match between Diesel and Shawn Michaels. The other matches such as, Bob Backlund vs Bret Hitman Hart, Owen Hart and Mystery Partner vs The Smoking Gunns and The Allied Powers vs The Blu Brothers were tolerable, but nothing special. The match between Bam Bam Bigelow and football player Lawrence taylor was total waste of time. This Wrestlemania also featured another return of Rowdy Roddy Piper.
The Wrestlemania 6-11 Digipack is well worth the money for Wrestlemania’s 6, 7, 8 and 10. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Especially if you want a piece of wrestling history.
...the biggest event on the WWE calendar. And wrestlemania 6-11 are up there amoung the greatest.
From the Ultimate Warrior v Hulk Hogan (probably the Warriors best match ever)
Wrestlemania 7 Sgt Slaughter, Wrestlemania 8 Bret Hart beating Rowdy Piper, Wrestlemania 9 Mr Fuji throwing salt in Bret Harts eyes and Yokozuna winning the WWE title then lose it moments later to Hulk Hogan. Wrestlemania 10 Owen Hart beating the Hitman at Madison Square Garden, ...
