In 1984 Vince McMahon had a vision of a wrestling supershow. He was in the process of wiping out all of the other wrestling organizations that were trying to compete with him and thought that a mega event would put him further ahead in his quest. The result was WWF Wrestlemania.

The Main event of the first Wrestlemania put Hulk Hogan and Mr T with the Superfly Jimmy Snuka in their corner against Rowdy Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff with Cowboy Bob Orton in their corner. As if that wasn’t enough, the match also had Mohammed Ali as the special referee and Liberace as the time keeper.

After Wrestlemania was a huge success, McMahon had another idea, Wrestlemania 2. Only this time he wanted it to be bigger than the first one. Many people had doubted that this was possible. How could you possibly top Wrestlemania 1?

In the Wrestlemania 2 main event, WWF Champion Hulk Hogan defended his title against King Kong Bundy inside a Steel Cage. This event also saw the debut of three of the greatest superstars of all time, Bret Hitman Hart, Jake The Snake Roberts and Macho Man Randy Savage.

It was clear after this that Wrestlemania was going to be a annual WWF event as plans for Wrestlemania 3 got underway. 97,000 fans jammed packed the Pontiac Silverdome in Chicago to watch WWF Champion Hulk Hogan defend his title against his former best friend, Andre the Giant, in the Main Event.

Other superstars included in the event were Bret Hitman Hart, Jake Roberts, Honky Tonk Man, Davey Boy Smith and George The Animal Steele. Rowdy Roddy Piper also competed in what would be his last WWF match for almost 3 years as he left the company afterwards.

Shortly before the event, the WWF World Title was declared vacant and there would be a tournament to crown a new champion at Wrestlemania 4. The tournament included such superstars as : Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Ted Dibiase, Butch Reed, Ravishing Rick Rude, Macho Man Randy Savage, Jake The Snake Roberts and Greg The Hammer Valentine.

The following year, Wrestlemania 5 was also held in the Trump Plaza. It was like WWF was trying to make up for the poor event the previous year. If that was the plan then it worked well because Wrestlemania 5 was a great event. Former tag team partners and friends Hulk Hogan and The Macho Man Randy Savage fought in the main event for the WWF World Title. Also on the event was The Ultimate Warrior against Ravishing Rick Rude for the WWF Intercontinental Title, Demolition faced Powers of Pain for the WWF tag team titles and Jake The Snake Roberts squared off with Andre the Giant.
