First of all let me just say i find myself in that sad minority of people who, despite being able to predict every action of World Wrestling Entertainment I still get totally enthralled by it. This said I tried my best to stay neautral with this DVD. The history of the undertaker dvd will only appeal if you are a fan of wrestling in general or like strong bloody violence (as boh are featured). As a dvd goes this is quite a complete package, there are interviews with the Undertaker about certain wrestlers and little intersticials of story line (Hogan being attacked by the Undertaker in the funeral parlour) Along with pre match build ups. Anybody who has watched a pay per view WWE performance will know these, they are a kind of mini film explaining why the two wrestlers are fighting. Another important thing about this DVD is it will not only more then satisfy Undertaker fans but fans of other wrestlers too, it has matches with Angle, Cena, Lesnar as well as early days against Hogan, Mankind and HBK. The actual match selection (the most important part of the DVD after all) is quite a good choice and they cover the main developments in Undertakers career from his first title win at survivor series against Hogan in 1991 right through to his dramatic return against Kane at wrestlemania 20. The fights themselves vary in nature from the traditional Undertker fights we are used to seeing, into the often brutal fights he had as 'Taker (in particular the fight against Lesnar in the Cell where undertaker is literally dripping blood) and right back to his return as the dead man. The matches types cover Casket Matches, first blood, inferno, hell in a cell and normal. Decently as well it is not just pro undertaker and features fights where the big man loses. As much as I praise the selection though there will undoubtadly be peoples favourite matches missed off, I personally would have loved to see The Undertaker vs Undertaker match which as a child had me enthralled yet after an almost constant 15 years in the business it would be hard to capture it all. Overall though a very solid offering, with 21 fights, loads of interviews and TV spots and altogether around 10 hours of play of 3 dvds this is an essential purchase for fans of Wrestling or gore. I brought mine straight away for £24 and believe it to be worth every penny.
Fight Worth Buying DVD For Mankind vs Undertaker Hell in a Cell This is probably THE epitomy of what cell matches can do, not only is mankind thrown from the top of the cell to a table below, through the roof of the cell and into the wall but in true Mick Foley standards introduces a bag of tacks into the match...brilliant for a first watch.
Filler Fight Cena Vs Undertaker Ok as much as i loved seeing Cena get his butt whipped it was a pointless and somewhat boring fight to put on the DVD. Can only assume it was put on to showcase the undertaker against the new generation of superstars.
Oh this review made me chuckle... American wrestling is so OTT... Years ago I used to watch UK wrestling when my granddad came over to baby-sit me... loved it!
