The year was 1995. At the time, every Monday evening, the place to be would be in front of the TV watching Monday Night Raw, the WWE's weekly programme. At the time, WCW wasn't that big. All the bigger stars of the time Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Bret & Owen Hart, Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) and , unfortunately, Kevin Nash (Diesel) were all under contract with Vinnie Mac. So when Ted Turner's ambitious, ruthless sidekick, Eric Bishoff, started offering contracts to some of the WWE's bigger stars, for a lot more money, the WWE didn't stand a chance. Or did they?
When WCW signed a 'retired' Hulk Hogan, others soon followed suit such as Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and others. The nWo was created and was a big hit not only to fans, but in the ratings also. The DVD chronicles the life and death of the once unpredictable company and Nitro. To me, it seemed that the reason WCW still isn't here today is the fact that they became too arrogant and were more than certain that they were so much better than the WWE. The WWE have lasted for such a long time because, in that era, they used to give the fans what they wanted to see. Ratings were never heard of until Bitchoff started bragging about how ever many weeks his company had been on top for.
The extras on this DVD include some of the highlight with Shawn Michaels & Triple H taking on the Legion of Doom, the timeless 'Bret Screwed Bret' segment and Jim Cornettes classic commentary which slagged off both companies, despite being a WWE employee!
Low points include the Goldberg vs Hulk Hogan match up which was just plain boring, unless you are a fan of either man. However, it does display how popular Bill was for some reason in WCW in comparison to the WWE.
Lasting a little over 3 hours, 86 minutes are of matches and events that changed the whole battle. To really understand, you need to watch the entire thing. It's a great DVD to have in your collection as it is so informative if not slightly one sided at times. A lot more entertaining than some of the pay per views...

Advantages: Great Main Feature with Excellent Extra Features Disadvantages: Not Long Enough
...Eric Bischoff, the figureheads of WWE and WCW.
The main feature is an exciting look at the Monday night war with some of the high points and low blows struck by both companies. The DVD does take a slightly biased view (towards WWE) but is largely honest. My main gripe with this disc is that as great as it is, it could have been longer and had even more.
The extras are Excellent but again I wanted more. This is a must see DVD but beware it will ...

Advantages: Good detail, fun stories Disadvantages: Biased
After having purchased this for around £2 nearly a year ago I finally managed to watch it, now I know your asking “Why'd he take a year to watch it?” Well I ended up with a Region 1 version of the DVD and having not had a multi-region DVD player it's taken until I finally bought myself a laptop before I've had the chance to see it.
Having been a wrestling fan since the mid 90's (when the “MondayNightWars” started incidentally) this had caught my eye when it first came out, it was, for those that don't know their professional wrestling probably the best time to be a wrestling fan. With two rival companies trying to out do each other with the ratings and public perception, with each company taking dirty tactics against the other, both knowing that one was going to defeat the other some how. The loser would end ...
Advantages: Great match card Disadvantages: Limited amount of dvd extras
This is a great purchase for anyone who loves an action packed wrestling DVD as it hosts several great matches from the unforgettable ambulance match between Shane McMahon & Kane to the classic Survivor Series style tag match between Stone Colds 5 man team & Eric Bishoff's 5 man team but to top it off there was the buried alive match that stared the undertaker back on the path to becoming the true phenom of the WWE once again.
In general it was a great event it was one of the better events of 2003 and if you want to buy a WWEDVD that still makes you feel like the MondayNightWars are still on buy this because the performance by every one on the card was like they were competing furiously for the fans.
This is a must have for any true WWE fan. ...
