As I am a wrestling fan, I watch most PPV's (Pay-Per-Views) which are on TV. Sometimes, it's good to have the DVD/Video, so you can keep it. Although I don't usually do that except the WrestleMania's and so on. So anyway, I got this DVD as a present from somebody, although I had already seen it, I was grateful for them to go and buy me a wrestling DVD. I knew that there would be some bonus stuff on the DVD too, and i love bonuses and extras on DVD's, so I was happy. I am writing this review whilst watching the DVD.
I will apologize in advance if anybody doesn't understand much about the review. If you are not a wrestling fan you may not know what a lot of the stuff I say will mean. I apologize to you for that!
●THE SHOW ITSELF●
MATCH 1 - (WWE Tag Team Championship Match) Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio vs. The Basham Brothers (Champions)
Eddie Guerrero and Danny Basham started off the match with a lock up. Eddie went for a single leg trip, but Danny blocked and pulled Eddie's arm, and then Eddie blocked and tripped up Danny. Eddie arm-dragged Danny and tagged Rey straight into the match. Rey came in and whipped Danny to the turnbuckle, giving him a shoulder thrust.
Doug Basham was tagged in a few minutes later, and distracted the referee whilst Danny choked Rey with the rope. Doug went to give Rey an Irish-Whip, but Rey countered and gave Doug an arm drag, then tagged in Eddie. Eddie entered the ring, got Doug to the turnbuckle, and went to give him a hurricanrana, but Doug countered and tagged in his brother, Danny. Danny choked Eddie, and Eddie gave Danny a suplex to escape. Again, Danny tagged Doug back in. Doug pinned Eddie, but he only got a 2 count before Eddie kicked out.
As Doug was up on the turnbuckle, Eddie ran to tag in Rey. Rey gave Doug, a springboard crossbody (I love this move), and then pinned Doug, but again, it was only a 2 count. After this, The Basham's did their usual trick of switching, even though they don't look that much like each other, I don't know how the hell the opponents or the referee doesn't notice that it Danny is actually Doug and vice versa! Anyways, when they switched, they teamed up on Rey, whilst the ref was distracted by Eddie!
A few shots were taken back and forth between Doug and Rey, with some good moves thrown in, but I'm not going to explain every move in the match! Danny was tagged in, and he kept Rey away from his corner, so that he couldn't tag Eddie, for quite a long time. As the Basham's were about to do a move on little mini speedo, Rey, he ran quickly to tag in his partner Eddie. Eddie came in fired up, as he sometimes does, and gave out some dropkicks on both Bashams, then combined an arm-drag with headscissors, to both Doug and Danny Basham.
After this, Eddie went on one of his, 'get the title and pretend I haven't got hold of it' stunts. These are funny. Eddie went outside the ring to grab one of the title belts, but Rey took it off him, obviously, as Rey didn't want to be disqualified. So, Eddie went for a frogsplash off the top rope to Danny, and when Eddie landed, he pretended he had hurt himself, then pinned Danny, but it was only for 2. Danny then grabbed the other title belt and threw it to Eddie, who then tossed it over to Doug, but then Eddie grabbed the other belt off Rey, which he took off him earlier. Eddie knocked down Doug with the belt, then Rey did his signature '619' and pinned Doug. Eddie & Rey became the new WWE Tag Team Champions.
MATCH 2 Heidenreich vs. Booker T
Heidenreich came out and read one of his poems or as he calls, 'disaster pieces'! Booker T was sort of confused, and soon after grabbed Heidenreich, which started off the match in a lock up. Heidenreich hit Booker T with a 'knee to the gut' and then went to give him a clothesline, but Booker T countered with a side kick. Booker T hit with some chops and Heidenreich game Booker T an elbow. After a few cheap shots back and forth and both men thrown out of the ring by each other, Heidenreich gave Booker T a scoop slam, and pinned Boooker T for a 2 count. After this, Booker T got fired up, so he gave Heidenreich a spinebuster, followed by a clothesline, then kick to the jaw, followed by his 'spinaroonie'.
After Heidenreich was back on his feet, Booker T went for the scissors kick, but Heidenreich moved out of the way, but Booker went for the Book-End, but Heidenreich countered. Booker T put Heidenreich over the top rope, the climbed down to ram him into the steps. Heidenreich grabbed a nearby chair, and then hit Booker T in the throat. Heidenreih got disqualified, so Booker T was the winner. Heidenreich put Booker T back into the ring, and started on one of his 'crazy' moments, which he had a lot, and stood at the turnbuckle saying that Booker T cheated!
MATCH 3 - (Cruiserweight Championship Match)(6 Man Elimination Match) Paul London vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Shannon Moore vs. Spike Dudley vs. Akio vs. Funaki (Champion)
Paul London and Funaki start off the match with a lock up. Paul gave Funaki a side headlock and a shoulder block. Paul then gave Funaki an arm-drag, followed by some stops at the turnbuckle. Funaki then got up and gave Paul a bulldog and pinned Paul, but only for 2. Spike Dudley interferes and hits Funaki from the outside of the ring, laving Paul to pin Funaki for the 3, meaning Funaki was no longer Cruiserweight Champion, so we were guaranteed a new champ in the match. Funaki attacked Spike on the apron, so Paul grabbed Spike into the ring and pinned him for the 3. Spike was then eliminated.
Shannon Moore was the next person to enter the match, and tried pinning Paul straight away, but obviously didn't get any 3's. Shannon whipped Paul to the turnbuckle, and ran towards him but Paul moved out of the way and then did the 450. Shannon was then eliminated. Akio was the next person to enter the match, where he started with a clothesline. Akio then gave Paul a tarantula, but Paul escaped. After a few hits, Akio got Paul onto the top rope and went to give him a superplex, but Paul countered and gave Akio a neckbreaker. Both Paul and Akio were knackered, and so the ref did a ten count, where Paul got up, but Akio never, and so he was eliminated.
And so we have Chavo! Chavo came in and tried to give Paul a neckbreaker but Paul countered by grabbing the ropes. Chavo whipped Paul to the turnbuckle, and then Paul went for a small package, but then Chavo got out of the package and pinned Paul, using the ropes! So Chavo was the new Cruiserweight Champion.
MATCH 4 Luther Reigns vs. The Undertaker
Luther came out with his gay sidekick Mark Jindrak, but the referee sent him backstage, thank God, as we all know he'll interfere, so everyone was happy that the referee did that, except from Luther Reigns!
The match started with cheap shots back and forth, but then Taker did a big boot and covered Luther for 2. Taker then gave some punches to Luther and then Old School, after working on Luther's shoulder for a while. Taker hit the STO and choked Luther, pinned him for 2. Luther gave Taker a clothesline, and then Taker threw Luther into the turnbuckle. Undertaker gave Luther a leg-drop on the apron, then Luther gave Taker a low blow whilst the referee was distracted. Luther had the match for a while as he threw Taker outside and into the steps, the back into the ring, sending him into the turnbuckle which was uncovered.
Taker got back up after his short beating, and some cheap shots were fired back and forth. Taker threw Luther to the uncovered turnbuckle, gave him the snake-eyes, then a big boot, followed by a leg drop. Taker pinned, but it was only for 2. Taker then gave Luther the chokeslam, and went for the Tombstone Piledriver, but Luther countered. Taker then gave Luther a DDT, followed by the Tombstone, and then pinned Luther for 3.
MATCH 5 - (Number 1 Contender for the WWE Championship) John Cena vs. Kurt Angle
The match started with a few lock ups, and then Kurt gave John a side headlock. He then repeated the side headlock, but Cena countered. Kurt caught Cena and gave him a belly to belly throw into another side headlock. Cena countered the headlock again, and got Kurt into the turnbuckle to give Kurt a side headlock, but Kurt countered and Cena was thrown out of the ring by a clothesline on the ropes.
Cena hit Kurt, but Kurt grabbed him and gave him the triple suplexes and pinned him, but Cena had his foot on the rope. After a few more cheap shots, Cena gave Kurt a shoulder tackle and both were down for a few seconds. More cheap shots, then Kurt gave Cena a head butt and clothesline, but Cena locked and gave Kurt a tilt-a-whirl side slam and pinned him for 2. Cena went for the F-U again, but Kurt reversed into a sunset flip. Angle went to give Cena the Angle Slam, but Cena reversed it into a DDT. Cena went for the F-U AGAIN, and Kurt countered, and got Cena into the Ankle Lock. After a minute or two, Cena managed to get out of the Ankle Lock, and Cena went to the top rope and gave Kurt a leg drop. Cena went for the F-U once again, got it this time, but Kurt kicked out at 2. Kurt then went to work on Cena's ankle for a while.
Kurt managed to drag Cena to the turnbuckle, and carried on working on his ankle, by ramming it into the corner post 4 times in a row. Kurt then stomped on Cena's ankle about a million times, and then gave Cena the Angle Slam. Kurt got the Ankle Lock on Cena. But again, Cena got out of it. Kurt went for the Ankle Lock again, as he does, and Cena kicked him off, but knocked down the referee. Angle saw his opportunity, when he saw Cena's chain hanging on the turnbuckle. Kurt grabbed it and wrapped it around his fist, but before he could hit Cena, Cena got the F-U, once again, and made the cover for 3.
MATCH 6 (WWE Championship Match)(Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match) Big Show vs. JBL (Champion)
The match started with a few cheap shots back and forth and loads of blocks. Finally, JBL gave Big Show a neckbreaker, then JBL climbed up the cage to look at the barbed wire, where he looked quite scared about it!
A few more cheap shots and more blocks, then JBL gave Big Show a thumb to the eye, before climbing up the cage to look for an opening in the barbed wire. Big Show pulled JBL from the cage and gave him a suplex and chopped him to the corner. JBL hit Big Show with a big boot, then climbed up the cage again! JBL jumped down, and choked Big Show with the tagrope Big Show got out of the choke, hit JBL, then powerbombed him. Big Show is already cut open and bloody, now JBL was beginning to join him in the bleeding. JBL's cabinet came down and tried to climb the cage, but Teddy Long followed and sent them backstage. Orlando Jordan slipped some cutters through the cage to JBL. JBL hit Big Show with the cutters, then went for a clothesline from hell, but never got it. After a few more cheap shots and a couple of hard shots, JBL climbed up the cage with the cutters, and started to cut the barbed wire so he could climb over. Big Show climbed up to JBL and hit his head on the cage, then he chokeslammed JBL off the ropes, and JBL went through the ring.
Big Show climbed down. Attacked the door to get the padlock off, which he succeeded in doing, then he climbed out. Big Show with his arms raised and everyone cheering as Big Show won. But then, Tony Chimel announced that JBL was still Champion, and going to Wrestlemania XXI because JBL got out of the ring first. Everyone was like, no he hasn't, but there was a replay and JBL's head popped out from under the ring, before Big Show got out. I think everybody in whole world was gutted. JBL was still champion!
Big Show started battering JBL, then Batista made his way down to the ring, just after the cabinet. Batista got the cabinet out of the way with spinebusters. Cena then came out and threw JBL into some TV equipment, then gave him and F-U through a table. The show finished as Batista and Cena looked each other in the eyes, waiting for their match at Mania XXI.

WWE SUNDAY NIGHT HEAT - This is the show that comes on before every live event or pay-per-view. There's a few bonus matches which don't mean much and aren't really for anything, they're just time fillers. This Heat is the one which was on just before No Way Out started. The only match on this heat was Rene Dupree & Kenzo Suzuki vs. Hardcore Holly & Charlie Haas. It was an ok match, but like I said, the Heat matches are just time-fillers, because you can see all the fans entering the arena behind the match. So not a lot of people are actually watching! Heat consists of Ivory shouting the same things over and over and over and over again. That's about it.
PRE-MATCH/SHOW INTERVIEWS - This is actually taken from Heat and No Way Out. There is an Interview with Kurt Angle on the upcoming match with John Cena. Tazz and Michael Cole explain the Barbed Wire Steel Cage rules. Not a good extra.
THE CBINET WALK JBL TO THE TRAINING ROOM - Why do we want to see this? I don't know! The cabinet walk JBL to the trainer's room, whilst they chat among themselves.
FOZZY MUSIC VIDEO - Fozzy is the name of a wrestler's band. The wrestler is Chris Jericho. Fozzy are a rock band, and are quite big in the UK, but I don't think you might have heard of them if you aren't a wrestling fan or a rock fan. They have sell out gig in the UK all the time, but it's not my kind of music!
BEHIND THE SCENES FOZZY MUSIC VIDEO - This is taken from WWE Experience the week before No Way Out. The video from Fozzy is the official theme for No Way Out which is 'Enemy'. A short shoot showing the goings on whilst filming the video, and how they do certain stuff/arrange what's going to happen in the video and so on. An alright extra.
●MY OPINION●
All in all the show was alright. The Big Show vs. JBL match was the one that made up for the whole show. There were some timewasters with the Rookie Diva Contest, but I wasn't going to explain them as all they did was come out, take off their clothes, then go backstage. Coffee break for the females watching at home! All the matches were quite good. Match 1 was good as I was happy that Rey and Eddie were new champs. Match 2 was boring. Match 3 was alright with the Cruiserweights, as some good stuff happened in that match, but I was gutted Paul London never won. Match 4 was boring with Taker and Luther Reigns. But Match 5 and Match 6 made up the show, as these were ones that would see who would be going to Wrestlemania, and I think that's all people wanted to know! Was gutted about JBL retaining his title, but now he's lost it so HA!
The extras are ok, although I think they could be better. They should do a full interview with all the superstars, and maybe an afterward interview about the wrestlers' opinion of the overall show. They are okay though, but as I said, they could be improved.
●COVER●
The cover of the No Way Out DVD. There are 2 covers, which are both very good. The first cover is of JBL on top of the Barbed Wire Steel Cage. NO WAY OUT is written at the top in white, with red barbed wire around it. The background is black. Sounds simple, but it is actually a good cover. The second cover is the same except it has Big Shows head behind a cage. Both good covers.
All in all, I give it 8/10.
